Hi Everyone! Just really wanted to introduce myself as I've just joined today - after a few months of lurking around and browsing the forums as a visitor!

I started bodybuilding near the end of 2009, and am absolutely loving it. I have been an endurance athlete for as long as I can remember, and have actually been suffering from Anorexia on and off for the past 10 years - partially resulting from my involvement in high level endurance running etc.

Had a "moment" around September last year when I thought - What the hell am I doing to my body, and why on earth am I putting myself through 3-4 hours of cardio training a day when I loathe it?!?

I decided to research the best way to "build" my body, discovered weight training, and have never looked back.

Unfortunately I don't have any of my emaciated anorexic body to at hand, but I have put up some recent pics. I know I am still very thin and have a long way to go, but to put things into perspective, a few months ago I was skin and bone (think Jack Skeleton from Nightmare Before Christmas!). I have put on around 8-9 pounds since September, and I am so happy with how its going. I can't believe I have gone from eating 1 tangerine a day a few years ago to happily consuming 2500-2700 cals per day at the moment!

I just want to say that I am overwhelmed by the knowledge and support that is given on these forums, and hope that I can now start to benefit from it even more as a member!

Hi

Well done on the progress you have made so far!

I am also currently recovering from an eating disorder (and from the UK : ) ). I have found weight training to be really useful in helping with my recovery though. I find that I now have a much easier time eating a higher calorie/ healthier diet, which also has the added bonus of giving me more energy to lift heavy in the gym.

I also find that focusing more upon what my body is able to do (eg lift weights), rather than what it looks like, helps me feel more positive about my body,

Feel free to pm me if you want to chat about anything.

I have the same problem, all I want to do is read up on everything. Who needs to do homework and clean anyway? lol.
