View Full Version : Healthy carb up verse unhealth carb up

I weight 170, 5'7, and 16-17% bodyfat.

I'm trying to get down to like 10% and see a six pack.

I have been on keto a month now. Last saturday was my first carb up.

I was planning on doing another this saturday. I'll prob deletion workout ni the morning, then carb up the rest of the day.

My question is can I have some pizza and cereal and still be fine? I'm trying to lose weight and dont want to set myself back. So is it ok to have some sweets, maybe some ice cream to?

Or would people reccommend me to have a clean carb up?

I'm partial of doing a semi dirty carb up. Get your cravings out of the way, but also eat some clean meals.

There is no cookie cutter answer. What one person can do might not be what you can do. I know some people who have to eat relatively clean or they fall off the wagon and end up eating a tub of ice cream.

Others can have their serving of ice cream and move on.

Last week I had a really dirty carb up, but in the gym this week, I felt stronger and could do more reps on the same weights.

However, yesterday (thursday,) i was still up 2.4 pounds from the day before i carbed up. I still dont know why i havent dropped that weight. Although I wieghed myself this mornign and i was showing the lowest weight i've had all week.

I think I might go dirty this time and then stick to clean carb ups every two weeks from there on out.

the scale is not always the best way to measure, it is just the easiest

i am liking the dirty carb ups, the trade off is i eat 2000 cals almost on the dot during the week, no booze, no exceptions, trade the week for everything you want on the carbs is my two cents

get all the cravings out, and it is anabolic in my mind to just crave, then eat exactly what you want

Yea I've been really strict. I havent cheated one single time on keto. I think I'll do a semi dirty carb up. I'm going to get my hands on some chicken parm, cereal, and ice cream/cookies. The rest will be healthy.

I give myself one really dirty item (um...hello pint of ben and jerry's froyo hahaha) but I try to make the rest clean as possible. I see no reason we should deprive ourselves completely of all the things we crave, but I also don't see it as a day to just go hog wild and overdo it...

i usually go one cheat meal and the rest clean, though i've barely noticed a difference between a dirty carb up and a clean one. perhaps some more bloating, but that subsides by the next day. i figure i work out hard enough to earn some rewards.

I have my first carb up this weekend after doing keto for two weeks. I have a workout tomorrow and off on Sunday. I was thinking of doing the carb up on Sunday, should I do it tomorrow instead or is it ok to do it on an off day? I wanted to limit it to one day and it will be mostly clean.

I do my carb up on Saturdays. I'm not really a huge guy muscle wise so i dont see a need to stetch it over two.

So basically, I hit the gym hard saturday morning early, do a depletion workout, then carb up the rest of the day.
