im 155 pounds 5'8 and can power clean 210 (i can flip 215 but cant come up with it) i feel as if the power clean is truely getting me quicker but not faster straight line (i know straight line is overrated for db but i got the combine in 2 weeks) has anyone else on this forum had better improvements on the shuttle then 40 with the power clean

i just had another thought i have a short to medium stride and short legs maybe thats another reason why im better at the shuttle with my explosiveness

power cleans are nowhere close to the most explosive movement. they are a good explosive movement and I do them all the time. They are very fundamental in football too. I have played football for ten plus years and I currently clean a little over 300. You get better at it by just grippin and rippin it man. but for better explosiveness maybe power snatch would be the best thing for you. very explosive just have to be careful with your shoulders. also things like box jumps and other plyometrics will help alot

It seems to me that things like powercleans help with the initial movement such as the start or jumping .... squats are probably going to help for the rest of the run more than powercleans.

box squats made a huge difference for me. Maybe give that a try.

Are you trying to get faster for the 40?
If you are, I hope you're doing a combine program lol.

Depends on the technique.
Snatch is excellent for building explosiveness but i always do power cleans with a small jump while bringing the weight up, so that i would include not just the upper part and the core but the legs as well.
Probably my favorite excercise.

olympic lifts are ALL legs. arms are just there to hold the weight. focus on pushing through the ground not pulling the weight up.

No doubt.
What i wanted to emphasize that i often see people trying to clean by using raw power and not relying on their whole body, core and legs.

i feel like power cleans been helping a ton with making me more explosive in my jumps and then squats and plyometric and conditioning is making me faster

Cleans are a great exercise and thats good weight you're putting up for your size. But cleans are just part of the equation.
Deadlifts, snatch, squats, Plyometrics. They all play just as an important role.
Do you have a program that you use to get quicker? What is your outdoor running program?
