There is no reason to not have carbs past a certain time at night...there was just a thread on this topic. You for sure need to get carbs post-workout to restore the glycogen which will aid your muscles in recovery. Just make sure to account for those carbs and leave room for them.

Have the carbs post workout. Of course you can have carbs after 8pm. Who comes up with this stuff?

I once over heard at the gym some girls talking about how carbs are nocturnal and they are really fat molecules at night. Lmao. She said it like the food both in your stomach and the unopened boxes of crackers literally shifted in their packaging to change to fats.

Sometimes I'm just not sure where people's logic comes into play.
Sidenote: its like when people say shaving hair makes it grow back in thicker. I'm like.. SERIOUSLY? you think that? Then why isn't EVERYONE shaving their head? or guys that are balding.. just shave it for a couple months and then you'll be blessed witha thick head of hair. COME ON!
to op:
I love working out late at night. Sometimes at 10 pm. I eat carbs at all hours. Your body has NO clue what time it is (as far as digestion is concerned). Working out and NOT having carbs after is like running yourself in circles.

Yes. You should be having a ratio of approx 2:1 carbs to protein post workout for recovery.

*facepalm*
You know what is really really sad about this is that I bet if anyone had tried to convince her she was wrong she would refuse to believe them.

don't you know? Sheesh!!
Anything eaten after 5.01pm will turn to fat! Carbs especially so.... calories at night are bad because your metabolism slows down and you don't burn any energy or nutrients.... Except for cottage cheese calories.... they are good. They go direct to muscle and stop the catabolism that happens at night when you don't eat because your muscles burn themselves because they need energy...
:p

No no, you can only eat celery after 5:01 because it is a negative calorie food!
More sarcasm :P

I believe it's actually 5:01 and 36 seconds...and you better make sure the clock you are using is synced with NIST or you are screwed. Your body doesn't need calories after that time because your heart stops beating, you quit breathing, you quit processing food and liquids and cellular repair is not occuring. "Dreams" are stored in your memory prior as your body "restarts" so you don't have to deal with the mental anguish of having been dead for several hours.
I think the "Nocturnally Shape-Shifting Carbs" theory is the most awesome thing I've heard, yet. It's alive...IT'S ALIVE!!!!!! RUN!!!!!!!!! :D

I workout at 7 and in bed by 10. The P/T I started seeing about a week and a half ago looked at my diet and upped my carbs. He has me drinking gatorade during my workout and carbs after and I have been loosing weight. I did know that this is OK but would try to cut back on my carbs when dieting, My P/T has reinforced that its Ok and I should not let the things I hear on t.v and the break room at work get to me and make me second guess myself.
