I'm a college football player weighting about 225. I'm tryin to put on some muscle this off season. what is the best way to calculate how much protein I need to take in a day to gain muscle?

Also how much is too much protein? And if i take in too much protein, will that just result in bad weight gain?

I believe the general rule of thumb is to try and consume at least 1-1.5g/protein per lb/bodyweight.
