I can do 135 or 155 depending and I 5'1... my goal is 200+ ... i am weak now, but I am wondering what other stats are? :)

Most I've been able to do is around 200lbs.

5x5 155lbs
2- 190lbs

I'm sure I could do more than 190, but it's hard on a caloric deficit. Diet and hydration play a HUGE role for me in how well these lifts go.

I've had a bad diet/hydration day and only been able to do 155...and the next week was at 180 with a good diet and a gallon of water. lol.

At the moment only about 220lbs for reps... could do more before I had the baby last year and got my abs torn up in the C-section... aiming still and eventually for 300lbs

three sets
165 x 10

I've bumped it up to 190 before. Could prolly do more.. but not worth perhaps hurting myself tryin :D

I haven't deadlifted since August, and then my max -after a night of vomiting, yay for take-out- was 150kg. RIght now it's a little lower. 145-ish. (somewhere between 300-330 pounds? Am I right?) I sooooooooo lost my deadlift. I can't wait to take revenge.

I am new at it, and hope to make my way up to 200lbs

just out of curiosity...140? That's sort of a weird number. Do you have 2.5lb plates at your gym? And if so, and you can do 3 sets of 10, then why not bump up in weight?

Yep, lots o' baby plates*. I'm keeping my lifts at the weights they were when I started cutting, as getting in the same number of sets and reps is becoming slightly harder every time I work out.

*I'm always baffled when I find 7 or 8 2.5# plates at one rack. Shouldn't need more than two at a time!

I was thinking maybe she was using DB's, we have the 2.5 lb plates at our gym...those suckers come in handy lol.

When I do RDL's I use DB's not the BB. Using the DB's (standing on a 45 lb plate) seems to hit my hamm/glute area more then when I use the BB.

I only throw deads in my program 1-2x a month...the kinds I do vary...

Good Lord....

Following Strong Lifts 5x5 made my deads go from 45lbs to 165lbs in the matter of 9 months or so.

I find them to be MUCH easier to do once you can just warm up with the 45's on it. They get the bar higher off the ground, which makes the lift easier (IMO), even though the weight is heavy.

Once you start using 45's, you can stand on an aerobics step (or whatever else is handy and sturdy) so that you can get the full range of motion before the plates touch the floor.

Why would you want to?!
Deadlifting from the floor gives you the full range for that exercise. Stepping up on a box makes it a completely different exercise.

My highest on CDLs was 188. That was, if I remember correctly, on my last of 4 sets, for about 2 reps. The previous sets were less weight (I added weight each set.)

I haven't done CDLS in quite a while (over a year) because I switched to Romanian DLs.

A few weeks ago I hit a high of 175 on my RDLs.

I just started deadlifts. 60 pound bar. 3 x 10. I want to lift more but want my body to get used to the new movement first. I'm paranoid about form because I don't want to screw up my back.

Me too - I'm finally up to starting off on the big 20kg plates and the movement is much smaller and easier - I was able to add a lot of weight quickly after that.

For you all who are deadlifting 150+, how long did it take you to work up to this, and what did you start at? My one rep max is probably around 100. You are all awesome, I wish I could lift that much.

It took me just over a year to get up from 60lbs (my starting point) to 150lbs+, then about 10 months after that to hit 200lbs.

EDIT: That's for RDLs and SLDLs- I don't do regular that often.

02-13-2010, 01:56 PM
Last time I seriously did it(regular style), it was around 180-190 range. Lately I have just been doing RM deadlifts with 30 lb db's.

How , I worked up to it?

Marching band?
being 100 lbs over weight for a long time (carrying around hulk)
genetics, my lower has always been way stronger than upper.

In comparison I only bench like 75 lbs...srs.

I did 4 reps at 155lbs a couple of days ago.

viridian
02-13-2010, 03:05 PM
Im not sure how long it took me to get there... Before a few months ago, I never did regular deads.... it was always SLDLs and Romanians, or single legs with DBs or BB.

But it did take me roughly 6 months to go from bodyweight squats (bum to grass) to 145lbs for 8 reps. I would think that helped get my strength up there quite a bit. A long with heavy rows and such.

02-13-2010, 03:12 PM
It only took me a month to move up from 135 to 245 but thats because i do them every week with my husband yelling in my ear...

it is hard the first time you try to pull but after that it is easy to go up ... you will get there... i am short so not as much range of motion...

i believe in yoU!

Question---when you say how much you lift, do you count the bar with that??

I just stated and can do 25lb plates on each side plus the weight of the bar.
So do i lift 50lb or ??

Thanks

Pre back injury my ORM was 200lbs and i was doing 175lbs for reps. Had a goal of 250lbs ORM and then i injured my lower back so I am now only able to lift my warm up which is 135lbs.

Hoping to get myself back up to 200lbs. Taking it slow now so i don't re injure myself (back injury wasn't working out related but deadlifts were out of the question for a while since it did exacerbate it).

Maximum around 200 lbs for 3 reps.

I started with rack pulls because I found it too difficult to lift the barbell off the floor initially.

It took me around a year to build up to 200 lbs.

205 for 5 reps

bulking is what got me there. it took about a good 4 weeks of bulking and i went from 135 to 205. i could have continued to increase, but i am on a cut right now so my numbers have gone down. my goal for my next bulk is 225+! it's all about the food!

wow there are some impressive bodyweight ratios in there!

Last week I did 110kgs (242.5 lbs) x1

At the moment, I'm making a lot of progress with a 5x5 routine. Today I did 97.5kgs (215 lbs) 5x5. Video on my training log.

It took me 5-6 months to go from 72.5kgs (160 lbs) to 100kgs (220 lbs). Newbie gains?

And then 5 months to go from 100kgs to 110kgs (242.5 lbs). But I think I got stuck doing too many singles at some point. I started improving again by lowering the weight and going for reps/volume.

I'm with you there. The back is an awful thing to mess up. I am so scared of injuring my back I take baby increments when it comes to deadlifts. Ok, you can all call me a sissy if you want, but I'd rather be a sissy than on the operating table and then not able to wipe my own butt for a year. Besides, the day after deadlifts my hams and butt hurt enough to make me feel good about my workout. Having said that, my 1 rep max is currently 188lbs.
