Looking fabulous Girl !! Spectacular symmetry and solid definition.

And on that pic - people can tell you got some great biceps that stand out from just holding that trophy. Can just imagine how awesome it would be if you were to flex with a closed fist.

3rd finish huh....I say you should have been in a better spot.

Just keep that desire to compete though - you will rack up lots of 1st place trophies in no time !!!

Was Curious,

How long do you usually diet for a competition?

Take Care.

Eddie,

Thanks for the complements. This is my second show. The first was in Sept.'02 and I failed to make it past the elimination round, so I am pleased with these results.

As for training, I realized I need to do less than the "norm". I cut back cardio to 15 minutes 3 x's week 2 weeks out. I cut it out completely the 3 weeks before those final weeks. I had to gain and stop burning my muscle since I am naturally low on bodyfat. I also had to up Carbs and Protein since I am a vegeterian (pesco lacto ovo - so barely vegeterian).

As for the biceps (and shoulders), I thank my dad. They develop soooo easily. I have to remember not to work them too much or they will make Popeye look like a wimp :-)

Anyway, I still feel I should work the quads. I have never been satidfied with them. I can't "cut em up" so I feel bodybuilding is Not for me - although soo many people encourage it.

Take Care!!!

Hey Dawn

Thanks for the reply and info!!

And yeah - you should stick with Fitness/Figure competitions.
Your body is already at an excellent point to get better for Figure.

With bodybuilding you have to gain more size.

But it would still be nice to just see you flex for like a photo shoot.

So you are naturally low on body fat.

Do you stay Lean all year round?

And what's your next competition in 2003?

Take Care Sweet Diva!!

You look great! What did the other girls look like that beat you? Geez! Did you ask the judges for feedback? It's difficult to tell from one picture, but you definitely have a great future in figure! (ps-check out the fitness website/pics thread-we're chatting fitness and figure stuff)

Thanks Eddie and Sandra.
Eddie, You made me blush. Sandra, you boosted my confidence.

I have the competing bug so I am thinking about July 19th for my next show. It is in New Orleans (my hometown) so all my family could come. I am also looking to place in the top 2 to secure qualification to compete in a National Figure Compeition. I placed 3rd in this national qualifier, but I must check if that was good enough. If not, that's ok as I am appreciative to have my improvement recognized.

Well, 3 more days of EATING junk just to eat it and NO workouts at all. Then back to the drawing board. It is funny, old habits are hard to break. This morning my mom cooked me pancakes (she is visiting) and didn't understand why I wanted no butter on them. I thought I was already over the top with the 100% maple syrup and real pancake batter. Compared to Eggwhites mixed with oatmeal and protein powder then topped with Sugar Free, Calorie Free syrup, I was in heaven. :-)

Take Care All!!!

And hey it feels good making you blush (smile)

Louisiana is a great state full of talented fitness and bodybuilding athletes !! Hope you have much success in that show !!!

Well Dawn - I just wonder one more thing....

Have gotten lot of chances to do any fitness modeling?

Later Diva !

Thanks.
The food in LA is Great. It's funny, but I am looked upon as too skinny by most men there. They are in "awe" of a muscular woman, but overall I'm viewed as too skinny. I used to be embarrased of my muscular development (esp. the biceps). They still get attention. I simply flex and say "Oh, this little thing. :) "

No fitness modeling yet. I think I would love to do some. I am breaking that shy shell I had a few years ago. I totally enjoy being on stage and strutting around with all eyes on me. It's kind of a sexest experience but all women love this type of attention to some degree.

I plan to soon send some photos to some magazines like my favorite - Oxygen, and c couple of others like Shape and Fitness. I think being included in the feature "Future Fitness" would help me. I know htat I also need to get a portfolio together and market it. It's all just really weird given that I work as a CPA.

I have decided to become a Certified Fitness Trainer before year end. I want to specialize in fitness for people with diabilities. I myself have MS (almost 6 years) and helping those with special needs is close to me (including Special Olympics, etc.). In college, I got a few of the Special Olympic kids totally hooked on Racquetball. I thought that was cool to see their faces light up nad the desire to just compete.

I also want to become a spokesperson type for the MS Society. I started doing the MS 150 mile bike rides in 1996 before I really know just exactly what this chronic condition was. I just enjoyed being able to help others by doing something I liked - bicycling.

Anyway, blab, blab, blab....blab,blab,blab...

I think you look great. Figure can be very confusing......at one show they might be rewarding hard muscular girls and the opposite at other show. Compete at a look that you are comfortable with and make sure your suit fits you to a T!
