Ok, I've noticed there are a few types of Niacin. Niacin 186, Niacinamide and No-flush Niacin. Any experience on which helps improve vascularity the most? I am an extremely vascular person to begin with, especially after a set of two of bent barbell rows ;) but when I get onstage 7 weeks from today I want to make sure my veins protrude for the extent of the show.
Please recommend brand, dosage, type, and timing if you have experience.
I have never known niacin to help vascularity....but it sure can make me itch something fierce.
Vascularity comes with low bodyfat and it is genetically determined. I say just keep working on your pre-contest diet. If you get your bodyfat low enough, you won't need more vascularity.
Some steroids are rumored to help vascularity but Im not the steroid guru around here (and that is probably not the route you want to go).

Niacin does bring out some vascularity, it also dries you out abit more, so you'll sweat something fierce. I used Niacin at my shows, not a bad product. When I was dieting, I'd pop about 500mg. before I lift, gave me a mad rush. Looked like a Flex mag model, just not bloated...

Well, tried taking 500mg of niacin about a week ago and didn't really notice a flush then today I was trying to get myself psyched up for my heavy leg day and decided to try the niacin at 750 mg. OH MY GOD...within 7 minutes I was red as a tomato and wired like a mofo...it was amazing. I got under the squat rack and it kinda itched a little but i was crankin out reps like a man possessed. Didn't really notice added vascularity from the norm, however but I do believe i'll take the 750mg before my show. does anyone know of any side effects from taking niacin at this huge dosage?

side effects - too much niacin is not good and could lead to liver damage and peptic ulcers. To experience these unwanted effects the dosage would have to be very high and chronic, but if you have related medical issues involving liver problems or ulcers you should certainly avoid excessively high doses of niacin.
about the liver take ala would that decrease the potential liver damage? Also is there articles and more precise info in Niacin?

I've heard rd wine before the show helps
I'm 10 days out from a show and I've been experimenting w/ niacin. 300mg 30 min befor w/o seems to keep veins bulging throughout w/o and for another hour or so. 500mg kept em pumped for at least 3-4 hours. No itching or redness yet.
I know this migt not seem like a very good idea, but smoking pot makes my veins pop out real good.

So like the tread started out, which kind is recommended? Or does it matter.
I use flush free Niacin (inositol hexanicotinate). I've been taking 500mg before w/o or long posing practice sessions to evaluate how it affects me. thumbs up!

30 to 40 minutes for me. I only use it pre-contest though. side effects from long term use? don't want to find out.

In general, the toxicity of niacin is low. Most people can take 10-20 fold their normal requirements at a time. I wouldn't worry about it until you start developing hives, this would probobly be enough to elevate plasma activity iof liver enzymes.

Flush free niacin doesn't have the vasodilatory (flushing effects) like Nicotinic acid (B3). It is also the actual conversion product of niacin that is heptatotoxic.
WHen we take regular Niacin (nicotinic acid), our bodies will naturally convert some to nicotinamid (aminiated form of nicotinic acid). This is what is believed to cause hepatotoxicity & muscle destruction (rhabdomyolysis).

Tis a good thread!!...people are raving bout the NaNox9 by muscletech, but were having major Sideeffects of arhtritis/flushign.....so i it got me thinking..what is making this NO product different...i think its the Niacin...NO other Nitric oxide product causes this side effect of flushing ...So I'm hypothesizeing its the massive dosage of naicin they hide in the proprietary blend.

Wada, I just recently got some NanoVapor on the cheap and experienced the exact effect you describe. It was exactly as I remember niacin. Nanovapor has got to be loaded with it, it's the only explanation.

I took niacin 500mg tab before a workout a few weeks back I went totally red!! It made me angry too and crazy veins!!
So I was advised to take around 200-300mg before stage.
I took 200mg before stage and the effect wasn't as good as that 500mg gym day still went a little red I could see on my face going red a bit even through dream tan!
I think next time i'd go around 300-400mg think that would be the right dosage. 500mg for my bodyweight was a bit OTT!

What brand do you take? I read that the controlled released versions are not as effective.

Ive never liked the tradeoff, to get the BIT of vascularity you need to take enough that your ears are burning hot and your skin starts to itch. And to be honest, vascularity doesnt win **** on a stage. Ive beaten so many guys that were more vascular, its separation that wins. Its weird Ive seen guys with paper thin skin on their legs and veins for days but very little separation between the muscles, beat em every time. Since I dont like the feeling and veins (although cool) really dont aid in my endeavor super supplementing Niacin is something I dont do right before taking the stage. I just dont see it as anything special.

^^ its a good point..some people on these forums logging on begging for better vascularity but it dont really do jack just the "coooooool" factor!

yep. Cannabis is a Vasodilator, it's the reason it helps some people with asthma (kinda weird haha) but I wouldn't recommend blazing before a show, unless it's something your completely familiar with doing. I would blaze down after the show, like Arnold did after winning Mr Olympia ;)

I am currently taking NX6 by Complete Nutrition and 1000mg of argenine before every workout. This helps vascularity a little bit but nothing too drastic. But I will say that **** gives you a thick pump which is pretty nice :P

Everyone always spouts how when something is bad for you it's because it will damage your liver. If livers are so important than why can't I do bicep curls with them? Furthermore, if livers are always dying then why are they called LIVEr's? Suspect...
Real talk. I always notice when I have a rockstar of red bull before a workout that my veins go into overdrive! I know they have high niacin content but never put the two together. You may really be on to something here bro.
