intro:
My name is Brandon. Im a Sailor in the US Navy. By fitness background is pretty good. I started lifting when I was deployed to Iraq in 2006. Came back and hit the gym hardcore. I was pretty skinny, then bulked up to about 210lbs ~18, i actually got the nick-name "Burly Brandon" from my muscle gain (feels good mayne). Then I cut down to 175 at 9%.
Then I tore my right rotator cuff. No biggy, 3 months later was lifting again. started bulking. Then in ~November of 2008, i tore my left rotator cuff. After that, i was out about 6 months. I didnt really try to heal it. ect ect.
From then on, ive been on and off of bodybuilding until now. I was fighting muay thai for awhile, and stoped until these mysterious chest pains started appearing out of no where, went to the hospital and cardiologist ect and they cleared my heart, but cant figure out why im getting pains. They told me to lower my stress and anger levels down. They said that I should start bodybuilding again.
During my off time: Ive been going through a divorce, had a daughter born, im scheduled to deploy, started drinking a lot, work blows tyrannosaurus penis, ect.
Pretty much at my worst shape right now. I get bouts of depression sometimes (no emo). And i know that getting back into bodybuilding will help that.
I miss the confidence and that awesome feeling that bodybuilding gives you. So now its time to do something about it.
goals:
-bring sexy back (no homo)
- strenghen my rotator cuffs.
- cut fat
- improve my cardio endurance.
- limit alcohol consumtion or quit all together
stats:
current stats: 5'9 and 213 (ouch), prob low/mid 20s bf%
First thing i will be doing, is staring a rotator cuff strengthening/rehab program. I have had plenty of time to rest it, i want to get 'dem ****s strong that way i dont set my self back due to injuries. ill be doing cardio 6 days a week, no excuses. After i feel confident with my shoulders, ill be lifting again, but taking her easy.
Ill be eating clean lean meats , low/moderate carbs and lots of healthy fats.

Breakfast:
3 whole eggs with cheese and tapito hot sauce(ftmfw)
2 slices of rye
comida del d?a:
tuna sandwitch- one can, 2 slices of whole wheat, mustard and red wine vinagar
dinnarz:
tapilo fish ( around 10-12 oz)
brown rice
and snacked on some cheese
water: ~1.5 gal
notes: no alcohol at all for 3 days. i ate clean everyday for the last 3 days as well and been getting plenty of water. i feel a whole lot better. my sleep is amazing. very vivid dream ani wake up well rested. i noticed throughout the day feel better and have more energy. I didnt think that JUST my diet alone would make me feel better lol. good stuff

Training:
cardio: 20 mins on the treadmill, ran at 10mph for about the last 3 mins, heartrate stayed at around 130. Im so fuking out of shape lol, god this actually made me sweat.
rotatar cuff exercises:
broomstick row : 3 sets of 50 ( you grab a broomstick with both hands and go from the horizontal position to behind your back=1 rep)
Internal and External Rotations with a cable: 3 sets of 30/40/50 with 10 lbs
The Cuban Rotation: 3 sets of 20, 10lbs
Scapular Retraction: 3 sets of 20, 20lbs
side lateral raises: 2 sets of 50, 10 lbs.
Diet:
sleep: 7.5 hrs
Fiber supplement.
Breakfast: 3 fried eggs (omega -3), light cheese, and 2 pieces of whole wheat bread.
Lunch: ~12oz of fresh salmon with some brow rice
dinner: ~10oz of rib eye (omg it was good), brocolli
Snacked on some alvacodo and some cheese.
water:~2 gal
notes first time actually doing sometype of weights in awhile. felt really damn good. it was just a shoulder rehab program, and felt amazing. like i said above, im in pretty bad shape, and this proved it. but it felt good. i think i over-ate a little with that steak. i feel really full.
I do not feel any pain in either of my shoulders/rc. i feel this weird feeling when i draw my shoulders back really far, but i think im just being scared/ paranoid. It doesnt feel like its torn at all. I may push my lifting routine a little sooner. i feel really good. but i do want to take it slow.
Overall pretty decent day. ate clean, except that steak. well hydrated, slept well.

Training:
Morning:
-15 mins some gay calisthenics at Command PT
- 1.5 mile run
Evening: -10 mins of jump rope
- 3- 1 min rounds of heavy bag boxing technique, 90% effort
- 5.2 miles bike. average heart rate was 180, and i sustained 205bpm for around 3 mins, last min was 100% effort. jesus h christ, iI bit off more than i could chew, then i chewed it. I though i was going to die.
- stretched, then did some shoulder twist with a broom for 50 twist each side.
Diet:
Sleep: 7 hours
Breakfast: 3 whole eggs (omega 3), two slices of w/w bread.
Lunch: slamon sandwitch, mustard, hot sauce, on 2 slices of w/w bread
Dinner: 1 whole chicken breast (~7oz), handful of broccoli, half an avocado
Snack: peanuts and a small block of cheese.
Notes: workout was really good. diet was pretty clean. Im starting to taper my carbs down towords the end of the week. i didnt sleep like i wanted too last night, i prob got less than 7. but i felt well rested when i awoke. Im having these weird , nerve-like "feeling" in my shoulders that are kind of worrisome. im sure im just being paranoid. should be fine.

Is that what your diet is looking like everyday? I would drop the fat ALOT and add in 60-70 more carbs a day.

no. i just eat the generally the something. Yeah, my fat was high today, im thinking about cutting the avocado, and adding spinach, and having 2 slices of w/w bread. adding a shake before lunch, and adding a complex carb with lunch. what do you think?

Are you going for a moderate carb diet? If you arent too strict about measuring the food and what not, atleast Try and aim for the general area of 1 carb per body weight and keep the protein high(try to preserve the muscle you had).
That sounds good imo, i think a slice of whole wheat bread has about 24g of carbs? If you have access to a blender just throw an extra slice of bread in the protein shake, I love doing that.Also keep in mind that you don't count the carbs from fiber, your body doesn't digest it.

During the RC rehab, my left shoulder was starting to bother me a lil. im starting to think there is something wrong other than my RC. Im pretty sure the RC is healed. Its feels like a pinching feeling. It doesnt hurt a lot, just bothersome. sigh...... Im not sure what to do. I think that im going finish this week, then start lifting lightly. if its that big of a deal, ill go to the doc ( rage, i fuking hate medical) .

The only thing I do different is I only weight myself once a week. that water weight will fu_ck with your head.

Weighing in every week or 2 sounds about right, the mirror tells you way more than a scale. Are you gonna start the BAB routine or freestyle it till you get your groove back?

my first week of lifting should tell me if i should see a doc about the pain or keep going. Ill prob do something simple and easy, that doesnt include military press, snatch or crazy **** like that for my shoulders.

Training:
0700: Navy pt. 40 mins of circuit training training. There was 10 stations, 1 min at each station. each station was eaither push ups, sit ups, curls with an elastic band, or heavy jump rope. I gave 100% at each station. I reached failure in most stations and ran at a pretty quick pace. In total i ran about 1.5 miles. It was a pretty decent workout.
1900: Elliptical for 11 mins. I got trough about half of my rehab program and quit (see notes).

Notes: the morning workout was pretty good. Nice fast pace. I was pretty motivated. Gave 100% on everything, but was carefull. Throughout the day i was pretty hungry, i know i burnt a lot of cals.
In the evening, i started my shoulder program after a nice warm up. about half way through it started to really hurt. so i quit. Tried stretching some more, tgoing back, and still hurt. This is the most pain that its given me as of late. at this point im about 80% sure its not an RC tear. I think there is something pinched or damaged. Im strongly considering seeing a doctor on monday, and getting a true diagnosis. they told me about a year ago that it was an RC, with minimal testing and after i gave them my history of my other RC tear. no MRI or anything. This is pretty devastating to me. I really want to get this **** fixed so i can start lifting again. Eitherway, no matter the outcome, Im going to continue my diet and cardio, and do what I can in the meantime. I think im going to go on a hike on saturday, and fishing on sunday. I will start weighing myself each Monday.

notes: I didnt have any shoulder pain this weekend, so i deiced to start lifting 3 times a week.Im very sore today. the work out, even thought it was only 8 sets, felt really good. Got a nice pump and a solid post-workout high. iam just taking **** slow. Also, i adjusted my diet to the Dave Palumbo's Diet . I experienced some headaches, but on tuesday i left fine.
No alcohol consumption to date.

notes: Cardio sucked. i didnt have a IPOD so , meh. Training was AMAZING. I was sure to warm up really good before. i kept all my movements very strict and tight, and squeezed at the top. 30-45 second rest. when i started curls, i was getting some veins to pop out, and got a really good pump. Even though i eat like 40g of carbs, i have PLENTY of energy throughout the whole workout. its weird. overall awesome workout
I cant stress enough that i am warming up, stretching, and doing cardio before touching a weight. thats very important.

diet:
4 whole eggs, 4 egg whites
2scoops of whey, 1tbs natural peanut butter
5oz turkey , 1/2 cashews
2 scoops whey, 1tbs natural pb
6oz ground beef, 2 cups of cooked spinach
Notes: solid workout. great pump, lots of energy. loved it!!! and best part: no shoulder pain

Notes: aaaaahhhh im sore all over. legs, tris, chest, shoulders. I kind of like it lol. Im shooting for solid sleep tonight. I stated taking lipo-6, zma, and melatonin to improve the rest that i do get. Im prepping for deployment, so sleep is going to be very valuable and scarce.

Diet:
4 egg whites, 4 whole eggs.
2 scoops of protein, 1tbs natty pb
7oz chicken, 1/2 cashews.

5ox hamburger with lettuces , with ketchup , mustard, and mirical wip
Notes: Im getting ready to leave somewhere, working 11,12,13 hour days. so its literally sleep eat work train replete. I am sore all over still, which effected my workout. It was hard getting the form down, and concentrating when i was sore. Diet has been spot on all week, im not seeing the scale tip fast enough. I will make some adjustments soon if things dont change.

Diet

5oz hamburger, 2c green beans.
notes: soreness has subsided. sleep is solid, i had 4 dreams last night that i remeber pretty well, so i think the ZMA is kicking in.

Training:

HIIT: 10 mins, 30sec run, 30sec walk
internal/external RC rehab: 2x30
db Cuban rotations r/c rehab: 2x45
DB front raises: 4x15
DB side laterial rasies : 5x10
rear delt fly :2 x15
diet:
4 whole eggs, 4 egg whites.
2 scoops whey, 1tb natty pb
1 can of tuna, 1/2c of almonds
2 scoops whey, 1tb natty pb
5oz hamburger, 2c green beans.
notes: worked 18.5 hours, and still made it to the gym. The HIIT was very hard. I think im going to start doing that more often.

9oz rib eye steak, 2 cups of cooked spinach
Notes: aaaaahhhh im sore all over. legs, tris, chest, shoulders. I kind of like it lol. Im shooting for solid sleep tonight. I stated taking lipo-6, zma, and melatonin to improve the rest that i do get. Im prepping for deployment, so sleep is going to be very valuable and scarce.
Where we deploying too?

I havent posted in this for a week. Ive been SUPER FUKING busy (14-19 hour days) getting ready to leave. My diet has been consistent, and ive only missed one workout, which i made up for. Down to 206 this morning, and looking really lean.

Oh wow. I just started a normal 8-5 and my diet went to complete sh!t, I'm just getting back into the swing now.
Nice work keeping your diet good in a 19 hour day. Where are you going btw?

just an update:
Im still working like a slave getting ready to leave. My diet has been very consistent. Theres been a ton of peer presure diet-wise. Everyone at work buys some fancy food each day for lunch, but im able to pass and eat my tuna for lunch lol
I switched to the CUTDIET.coms diet, which ive been successful with in the past. Workouts are so-so. I sometimes miss a workout because i work so late, but just make up for it the next day.
Im currently stuck at 205. Im trying to hit 200 by next week. I can see a difference in the mirror. feels good mayne

i fuked up my back. I havent been able to lift since sunday. Its pron going to be another week or two..
