I dream has always been to play college football. Now I kind of opened my mind up to playing other sports, I just want to be able to play a sport in college. It's a long shot, but I'm not going to give up on my dream. When I was a kid and finally started playing baseball I stopped after one year because I would rather be going to the concessions at one of my brothers' games. Then in 5th grade I saw my brother playing high school football and I just fell in love with the sport. I didn't know a lot so I played flag in 6th just to learn the basics. I was the fastest kid on my team and started, I know it's flag and it's not that big of an accomplishment. Then in 7th grade is when my athletic career really began.
Fall 2006: I had gone to multiple football camps trying to become a QB, at this point I knew more about football then a kid my age really should. I was under 5foot by atleast 2 or 3 inches so QB didn't work out. But on Defense I played FS/SS/CB/DT/PR, I mostly played Free Safety and I was pretty good I got a lot of tackles. And at one play at DT I amazed myself when I chased down a runningback from the other team that was atleast 35yards ahead of my on the opposite sideline and tackled him. And my team went undefeated for the first time ever.
Summer 2007: I played baseball and started most games, mostly in the outfield, but also at 2nd, 3rd, and Short. I was pretty good at batting and I led my team in stolen bases. We only won a 3rd of our games.
Fall 2007: I was 5'2" 104lbs competing for the starting QB job with a kid who was 5'9" 130lbs. I ended up at 3rd string, new coach didn't like me. Halfway through the season I was the starting QB and I did pretty good, I amazed all my coaches and teammates. We only won half our games though. I also played FS/SS/DE.
Winter 2008: I joined the wrestling team, and started right away and I finished at 3rd place at the city championships.
Summer 2008: I was on a new championship team, we only lost 4 games. I started every game, I had the highest batting average and led the league in stolen bases and my team in runs. I played every position and I even pitched a no hitter to end the season.
Now I lifted weights at my high school as an incoming freshman. I also hurt my shoulder during baseball but kept playing and lifting weights and it bothered me still after football started but it kind of plagued my season at QB.
Fall 2008: I was 4th string QB, 3rd String SE/ZB, 3rd String CB/S, and I was a punt returner. My team went 10-1 only losing to a JV team. But I made so bad decisions and my season was cut short. No not drugs or alcohol. But I decided doing my homework wasn't a priority and I was academically ineligible for the last 2 games. Now in middle school I didn't really care either I usually had around a 2.5 but finished 8th grade with a 3.0. But now I had a 1.9 and I finished the semester with a 1.15. I couldn't wrestle or play any other sport the rest of the school year. Then in the second semester I had a 1.19.
In summer school I did well so my school decided to keep me(college prep school). I also went to all my school's summer wrestling practices.
Fall 2009: Now I was on the sophomore team I was competing for the QB job until they brought down a JV QB. I ended up 3rd string at QB, 2nd string ZB, and 3rd String CB. This will be were most of you guys won't think I have a chance I only played 11 plays all season. But I did miss games due to a Concussion, Broken Hand, and I had an upper respiratory infection at the end of the season when the weather was bad. But still I pretty terrible season.
Good News at the end of football I had a 3.17GPA, but it took a hit again I don't know why I do this but I think after football I'm just not motivated anymore. It dropped to a 2.21, I passed every class this time though. And now my cumulative is a 1.58, still bad. But I'm eligible and get to wrestle.
Winter 2009-2010:I am wrestling at 130 on JV I have only wrestled in one meet and was pinned in both matches. I had a staph infection but now it's gone so I'll be in some more meets.
Now my plans are to Run Track in the spring then I will play Baseball in the summer. I still have to make up 2 more classes in the summer from Freshman year(can only take 2 classes a summer). My GPA is still pretty bad so I'm strongly considering JUCO out of highschool.

I go to a college prep school so your tax dollars don't go to my education. I know it will be a lot higher I'm not done with working harder in the classroom. But I'm just keeping an open mind about. I'm atleast going to make 2nd Honors this semester(3.2-3.79). I know I can do it and there's no more excuses.

My Nutrition isn't very good so I'll work on improving and will take suggestions this isn't the amount of food I want it's just tough for me to find time to eat. I asked my mom to make me a lunch, but I'm just going to do it myself since she didn't make me one yesterday.

On Monday I wrestled in my first wrestling meet since November 28th. I lost my matches I was beat 11-1 in one and then I was just out muscled in my 2nd match. I think the second guy outweighed me by atleast 10-15lbs(no weigh-ins).

Yesterday I wrestled in a varsity duel tournament and I went 1-4. I lost my first match that went into overtime 8-6. Then I won my second match and then I lost the rest of my matches. It wasw pretty tough but I think I'm going to turn the corner soon. I was in my first varsity meet. My team got third place.

It was a light practice on Monday because I had to help set up for a meet, turns out I was wrestling in it. My coach didn't tell me, so I didn't even know until I was called on deck. So I ran to my locker and got my stuff and put it on in time. It was 0-0 about halfway through the second period before he pinned me. Then I was wrestling a kid from my middle school and I lost 1-8, I think it was closer than the score says, I almost pinned him but I had to cut him and just couldn't get enough points with the time left.
Today was light also, another meet. I didn't wrestle in it though. We won 46-24 senior night and all our seniors won. I'm wrestling in a meet tomorrow.

Well, yesterday the meet started off pretty good.
I was down 2-0, and then had a 5point move and won 8-2. Then I lost a match I really should have won. Then I got beat 11-0. At practice we did 3 6min. matches and I did pretty well, even against one our 160lbers. My coach told me if I keeping working like I have been and don't miss any practice, then I'll receive a letter.

I have a cold, but I still went to practice the last few days and I'm determined to win in this meet, kinda as an early birthday present to myself. Then I'll be practicing hard for 2 more weeks and will have earned my first letter. I'm also going to start training for baseball. Basically for baseball I'll try out and if I don't make it I'll play in a rec league and run track and then try again for Legion.

It was a 14 team tournament and I got 6th place, I'm a little disappointed that I didn't do better. I'm done for the season now. All that's left is Districts and State so I'll have a few more practices. Then I'll be getting ready for baseball tryouts.

this is one of the most useless and stupidest logs ive seen in a while. ur thinking about college but u cant even fight thru some highschool classes. kid ur 5-2 130lbs losing matches by pins, ur never gonna make it. ur just not good enought of a speciment to play in college. in college wrestling is war everytime u get on that mat. a lot of state champions dont even make it. only really the top.
football is same. with those stats colleges wont ever look at you, there just isnt potential in you. even if ur one of the best a college coach would not see on how to improve on you and how to make u better.
and baseball is so competative, prob one of the craziest sports in hs. there are just so many good kids out around you.
now ive seen exceptions but there are very few, and i highly doubt that ur one.

While the kid doesn't have much of a chance for football, you never know. He could get a growth spurt and shoot up to 5-10. This kid at my high school walked around at 5-4 and jumped up to 6-1 the freaking summer we got out of high school, it was unbelievable.
As for wrestling, he's only a sophmore. He has plenty of time to improve. Do summer tournys, try freestyle and greco, do some mma too that helped my wrestling, and by your senior year you could be tearin it up in the mats.

Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can practice with my old middle school until their season is over. Then once my bro starts track, I'll lift weights Monday/Wednesday/Friday and then I'll have Off-Season Wrestling Tuesday/Thursday. On top of that I'll hopefully start Maverick Wrestling at University of Nebraska-Omaha in April.

I just got back from a meet at my old middle school and I could tell that they need all help they can get, they only won 2 matches in the first duel. I didn't stay for all of the second duel, but I don't think they had won a single match yet, when I left. So me and another kid I wrestled with in middle school are going to go help them out at practice.

Well I went to the old middle school and the coaches were pretty happy I showed up, we pretty much just worked on technique the whole time and then played lions and gazelles. I pretty much dominated the kids I wrestled with(no e-brag) I actually felt pretty bad because I wasn't really going 100%. But I taught one kid how to do a power-half and I'm going to try to get him on to a City Champion level by the end of the season. Tomorrow me and one of my HS coaches are going to go their meet tomorrow to scout some kids out.

Today went pretty well, except my shoulder was driven straight into another wrestler's head. They worked on breakdowns: tight waist, far ankle; tight waist, near ankle; arm chop. Then they worked on standups, switches, and rolls and really went through each motion of the move. Then we worked on different re-drops and then the coaches finished by showing how to do a cross-face cradle.

Today we worked on far ankle, far knee as a breakdown and then finishing with a far-side cradle and near-side cradle. Then we did a lot of situational wrestling, then they had wrestle offs. Tomorrow I have a practice of my own, we are practicing with 2 other teams preparing for USA State and Brute Nationals.

So practice today was pretty good I worked with some more experienced guys and did pretty good. I roughed my knee up a bit, I might just get knee pad for it because I'm going to start shooting with both knees. I guess they were talking about starting up with a high school in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Wednesdays, but I probably won't be able to do that until maybe the summer but I'll start lifting on Wednesdays and Fridays starting in about 2 weeks.

Today I went with a Freshman 130 and the Varsity 160, did a lot of hand fighting and working on set ups. Took a lot of shots and sprawled a bunch and worked on scoring from there. I focused on switches and sitouts from the bottom position. Tomorrow I'm going to the clinic so I'll try and absorb as much as possible and I'll find out about their off-season wrestling club so I can keep making improvements on technique and execution. I might also practice with the middle school for the last time so I should be getting a pretty good workout and then I'll probably chill the rest of the week and next week hit the mat and the weights hard.
This is the weightlifting I will do on W/F.

The clinic was good, I met Coach Denney from UNO and I met the St. Cloud State and Minnesota State Head Coaches. I worked with a Todd Meneely a bit, he was a 3xNational Champ and NCAAs Most Outstanding Wrestler last season. I picked up on some new technique some moves from a snap down, different tilts and some escapes. I also watched some of the College Wrestlers practice after the Clinic was over. I think I'll go to the AAU/Ironman Folkstyle National Championships for my age group 1994-95. I also will do Summer League Wrestling at UNO and I'll get atleast 2matches a week and I'll go to a Camp in Iowa with Terry Brands and some other guys.

I went to the DII Championship Session and there was only one impressive win and it was by a Freshman Heavyweight, he went out and beat the #1 Guy and he was doing all the right type of stuff, he was really working the whole match and it showed. He was Nebraska-Omaha's only National Champ but they still won the title the standings were:

I met Dan Gable so that was a plus, this next week I will be wrestling 4 times, Monday/Wednesday at my school, and Tuesday/Thursday at the other HS. I'm also going to start lifting in the mornings. I'm going to do a 4 day split with the workouts I posted earlier.

In PE I will be starting weight training so I'll have to balance working out in the morning with my class lifts. I went to wrestling practice at the other school and I worked a few different takedowns trying to get as many reps as possible. Then went live the rest of practice. The I had a match with a kid who was a bit bigger than me, I would say he was atleast 160 maybe bigger. I did pretty good I got the first takedown then pulled of a couple of nearfalls then I cut him took him down again and got 2 more near falls so tech. fall 16-1. The score doesn't represent how good the other guy was he was dominating me when we were just doing live takedowns. But once I got on top I wasn't going to let him get away without scoring some more points. He did build back to his base a couple times, but I was determined to keep him down, when I cut him it was because if I wouldn't he would have reversed me and probably got me on my back. Tomorrow I'm back in the weightroom early at 6:45AM

At wrestling today, I felt pretty good about how I did. Of course there is always room for improvement, a Dan Gable quote comes to my mind, "I shoot, I score. He shoots, I score." This was pretty much the case. We did king of the mat, only 2 guys took me down, the first 2 times were by the 160lber I wrestled tuesday, I also took him down twice. Then at the end I had a string of 7 straight takedowns then I shot on a kid my size and had both legs, but my head was in between his legs also. I turned once, he turned back, then 2 more times and finally I kept trying but was just gassed and he got me. Not bad though, only time I shot and didn't score. Weightlifting tomorrow morning at 8AM

Yesterday I loaded up the sweats and ran 1.5miles then pulled the sweats off and ran 1 mile. Then I did 5pullups and walked 1/2 mile, then ran a 1/2 mile and did 5 more pullups then walked 3/4 mile.
Today I just straight up ran 2 miles. Might do some lifting later. I'm also going to join the track team on monday.

In wrestling we had 2 matches each. In my first match I won 4-1 against one of the coaches' son. Then I went up against Esai Dominguez the DII 149lb National Runner-up. Against Esai I lost 0-1 because whenever he got a shot he just wanted to see how I would react if not he would have teched/pinned me easily.

I'd say this was the best spring practice yet. I actually had a wet shirt at the end of it. I mostly wrestled with my head coach. Worked on a lot of hi-c's with different setups and working for inside control then underhooks. Drilled live on just takedowns. Worked on some breakdowns. Then wrestled a 3min. match with my coach. I "pinned" him at the end of the 3rd period. But my shot has gotten a lot better and it is a noticeable improvement, my ground game from the top position has gotten quite a bit better. We'll see how far I've really come at the end of May in the AAU/Ironman Tournament.

My team lost our game today 10-1. Ouch. It was pretty bad, I managed a double. I did ok except for one play in the outfield. The guy cranked it about 40 yards past me. Then in wrestling I was wrestling all guys bigger than me with varsity experience, so it was rough but it will be better in the long run. In practice we did a lot more conditioning than usual in the off season so it was a pretty good workout.

This is where the S&C coach(usually isn't there in the mornings) told me to stop.
Then my baseball team did much better today, but we still made some mistakes we lost 6-3. I went 0-2, thrown out at 1st both times. I also came down with a fly ball, but the short stop on my team(his first start of the season) ran into the outfield for it and when the ball was touching my glove and I was about to catch it, he ran into me. Then the pitcher from my team got mad at me for it.

Wrestling was pretty tough today, I'm pretty sore. After practice I worked with an incoming freshman(5 time Greco-Roman state Champ) and his dad on some freestyle and greco(zero experience in both styles). My first attempts at the Greco throws were good, his dad said he liked my throw. Then we did a roll variation and I got the free fall on it. So I think competing in Greco-Roman might be to my advantage.

Now part of making it to the college level is maintaining a good GPA. And those who have read my first post know that I didn't start very well in HS. My GPA currently is a 2.4, would be somewhere between 2.7-2.9 but my teacher thinks I copied a paper my brother wrote last year(did not copy) and said unless I bring in my brother's paper from last year, then I'll only get a 60 on the paper. It is ok I'll still finish with a C, but with a good grade on the paper(as I was expecting I could have finished the semester with an A. Which would've been able to push me over a 3.0 :(. I took my Geometry Exam today and I think I will finish with a B in it. Tomorrow I have my exams for Sacraments and English.
As far as working out I ran 2 miles today and tomorrow I think I will do some circuit lifting and run/bike and do my own routine in the wrestling room.

My GPA, is probably about a 2.9 now, my grade went back up because I talked to my teacher about it and another one of my grades went up 2% because I aced the final. So my GPA could get over 3.0.
I ran about a mile and a half. Then I did a circuit in the weightroom. I did Chest Press, Machine Flys, Machine Rows, Machine Triceps Extension, Triceps Pushdown, Lat Pulldowns, Leg Curls, Leg Extensions, DB Curls.
I'll get another run in and maybe do some jump roping. Tomorrow I'll get in the wrestling room and get a good workout in.

Tomorrow, I'll do more running, jump roping, weightlifting, and I'll get in the wrestling room and get as ready as I can for the weekend. Only one day at school left. 2 Finals, Chemistry and Latin. I also got a haircut so I'm looking pretty good.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate your input. I agree I will need to hit the books hard the next two years and I'm starting to hit my stride in the academics. I have also mentioned before that I'm considering the JUCO route. I know that a lot of my opportunities to play at some schools are already over, but schools in my area like the University of Nebraska I will be able to get into. But the main point I'm trying to emphasize is to never give up no matter what the odds are.
EDIT: They are actually bad for anyone who wants to ever go to college.

Yesterday I ran 2 miles and today I ran another 1.5miles then I lifted some light weights. I used 35lbs and did 3 sets of:

Tonight was my first summer league competition and I went 0-2. The first match I lost 5-4, because it was scored wrong it should have been 4-4 at the end of the third. I would have gotten the takedown in sudden victory overtime, I'm positive. I scored both takedowns in the match he had 4 escapes(I know sad) I should have done much better on the top position. Then I got pinned in the 2nd period of my second match. I need to work a lot this summer on getting better.

Today was the first time I lifted in 2 weeks so it was rough. I cramped up on my last set of squats. Bench I was tight too, so I'll do the rest of my lifts tomorrow.

Yesterday at wrestling I went 1-1. It was takedowns only. In the first match I was down 2-0. Then I scored 5 consecutive takedowns to win 5-2. I threw my back out in the first match tho. So I went into the 2nd match with a thrown out back. The 2nd kid was stronger and more experienced and he beat me 6-0. Today I still feel sore from squatting on Monday, my back is still out and my shoulders are sore so I decided I would just hit the weights hard next week.

I sure haven't updated this for awhile. On Monday I ran 1.5miles. Tuesday I had a pretty tough wrestling practice. I showed quite a bit of improvement. All my coaches are impressed with my improvements. Also on Tuesday I had football practice. I caught every catchable pass thrown to me. Yesterday I had summer league wrestling and it was all on the mat. I did pretty well against this kid from Iowa, I worked up a lot of riding time but I wasn't able to win the match. Then I was pinned by a senior who was very good.

Tonight I have wrestling practice.
One thing I've been struggling with is whether or not to continue with football. I'm not looking at getting much playing time since I can't life M/W/F because of summer school. And if I go to football on tuesdays, I can only lift one day a week. So I'm thinking just lift Tues/Thurs and wrestle, then do cardio on M/W/F. Then in the fall I might run X-Country, Lift weights, and do Pre-Season wrestling instead of Football because I'll be in better shape for wrestling and I'll be able to keep getting better at moves. Then I might play rugby in the spring so I can still play a game similar to football. I'm not sure yet, but that's what I'm leaning towards.

Yesterday I went with my friend to Lifetime Fitness.
I just did a circuit with machine flys, machine incline press, machine shoulder press, lat pulldown.
Then I decided to deadlift

I had wrestling tuesday night and it was alright. Last night at summer league wrestling I wrestled a state medalist and got beat. Then I came out in my 2nd match I was doing a lot better. It was tied 5-5 going into the 3rd period. He chose bottom, I chose optional start and just cut him. We shot at the same time knocked heads pretty hard and I came out on top.
