What are the differences between weighted ropes and speed ropes?

Weighted ropes have heavy rope or handles. The speed rope is very very light and fast, typically made of pvc, plastic, etc.

Which would be better to use to lose weight?

5'8" 155#'s. That isn't really a worry for you.

It really doesn't matter though just jump.

I'd say it's preference. I've used both and I stick with my heavier leather rope, it seems to jump smoother if that makes sense?

Cheers

hmm thanks for all the advice, i'll be sure to purchase a weighted rope and try it out.

@ Wildtim , skipping really helps me lose my chest and stomach fat!

yes but you already are very light, so i think tims implying that you dont need to lose weight and should probably be gaining.

I always get exited when someone is willing to put the work into jumping rope because it is so effective and so cheap. Stick with it. You'll be glad you did.

He never said you could...

People can carry fat differently, if he carrys it more on his chest/abs, then of course he's going to notice those areas losing the most.

I thought the same thing and almost responded the same way. No harm done.
