I heard the Golds at Twin City "used" to be a Mike's. Do you remember it that way or was it always a Golds?? I work in Copley and the Kenmore Golds would be ideal except for the lack of parking, so living in Malden, I just drive over to Somerville now. Planet $hitness, indeed. I train @ Gold's in Millis and sometimes I train at the Kingsbury Club in Medfield.

I work the front desk and The Kingsbury Club and plan on getting some hours at Gold's in Millis at the end of this coming month.

I'm hunting training partner or anyone to get an occasional workout with. Even just a single session would be fun to spice things up.

I'd be willing to commute to another gym to meet up with some other BBers. My pic ain't very recent and I'm at pretty decent mass right now. I'm 5'11 186 bulking to 200 and beyond.

It's usually at John Hancock Hall in Back Bay.. Jay Cutler usually shows up, last year it was called the Jay Cutler Classic.. MuscleTech was there, usually a few companies are there with samples.. It's decent for a local show.. It's on April 25th..

Quincy is a bit closer to Braintree, if you really want a store there's Good Health by Quincy Center.. I think there's a Performance Nutrition store around there also, more of a bodybuilding store if it's still around. Like Malibu said, it's cheaper online.. ;)

Good Health also has a location in Hanover (on 53). Slightly smaller than Quincy, but they'll order you anything and if it's in stock in Quincy they'll have it the next day. I think Performance Nutrition shut down, but I could be thinking of the wrong place. Prices are better here for everything.

Their Quincy store is a little larger and they can usually get stuff to Hanover by the next day (possibly same day if you call early.) I was wrong about Performance Nutrition it's still there.

I throw some around at the Waltham planet ( there's a Foreign Legion up the street from there, 20lb propane grill tank refills for $13), ...usually go to the one in Burlington near my sweatshop, though.
Walpole has a nice leg press machine, like sitting in a fighter jet..Sometimes go to Weymouth, it's the only PF I know of w/towel service LOL. I go to Regis College when I have the need for big dumbbells. Nice to say HI to yiz all! MULLY

Hey, I just moved to Boston too, in the South End area. I checked out Equinox in Back Bay. It has very nice facilities, spa-like but also super pricey. Even has a VIP room you access with a retinal scan, I kid you not! Very gimmicky. A luxurious mainstream gym, but not really conducive to the bodybuilding culture.

I ended up joining Revolution Fitness a few blocks away. It has the Pit. You can close the garage door and scream all you want. If anyone wants a month trial let me know.

That's about how long my husband and I have gone. I only know one Chris there and he's barely out of college. I'm going to guess that he's not your husband :) I've heard USA is great, but so many people I work with go there and sometimes it's great to get away from work.

I understand about getting away from people who you work with. My husband is 40, shaves his head bald and sometimes he has a gotee. He is 6ft and about 220. He has a great build with wide shoulders. He goes there during his lunch break any where from 12-2. Sometimes he is there after work or goes to USA.

From Quincy here, I go to SuperFitness right now, can't beat $10 a month :) Only problem is the db's go up to 90 so it's tough and sometimes a bit challenging to get a decent workout in, but again for the price I'm not complaining.

Here is a funny story though, I signed up for the Planet Fitness in weymouth about 2 weeks ago.. I got a black pass which means im allowed to bring a Friend, well anyways..So im working out, doing my routine..while my friend i had brought and who im trying to get into BBing is trying some stuff out(he never works out)..so he wanders off, said he was gonna try some cardio and what not, ok no big deal..20minutes later This big meatball comes over to me asking if "this person" was my friend, i said yea..

So he's like, You two in my office now!, the guy was litterly screaming at me in front of everybody.. i still have no idea wtf is going on.. I guess my buddy tried the tanning beds they have, lol and a "friend" cant use them, u need to be a member.. Big whoops, so this meathead is yellin at me asking wtfi was thinking..i told him to calm down and i had recently just signed up...i had no clue and honestly i though it was funny..
until he took my membership & banned me from all planetfitness and told me if he saw me again he would call the police.. This guy was the biggest douchebag i have ever met in my life, I swear..

damn i really liked that place too, ohwell..back to my gym

My experience at the Weymouth Planet Fitness wasn't that bad, but it kept my husband and I from joining. My husband was training for a show, is a good size guy and lifts heavy. That occassionally leads to grunting. Well on a walk through, not even a workout we read the lunk sign and asked the person at the front desk if it was serious and if grunted would they make him leave. They said a definitive YES. Well that was enough. I get their rules, but not the rudeness. We are both at Planet Fitness and he also goes to One Stop Fitness in Rockland (formerly All Sports, formerly Sauls Gym). He loves it because it's grungy (used to be a powerlifting gym, but no longer) and usually pretty empty. He loves it there.

It finally stopped by me, but my family is in Brant Rock and Plmouth and it's still snowing there. We shoveled about 18-24in and still have 2-3 left from what fell since noon. It could be worse, it could be Monday morning and we could be doing this at 4:30 AM

Florians is runned by the Kenny Florian of the UFC, he just lost a title bout with BJ Penn a few months ago, I think that should be enough! :-) Even though he lost he's still sick!

My 'workout buddy' decided she wasnt seeing results fast enough and dropped her membership to go purchase a Wii. This was about 8 months ago, since then ive lost 30lbs and a considerable ammount of BF, and shes lost about 2lbs.

Reguardless ive been solo for a wile, if anyone works out there I could really use a motivator.

Power Fitness in Downtown Crossing is a pretty good facility. Considering the city, their latest special is 25 a month. They always have a custodian cleaning in the place. Everything including the workout floors, showers, and the locker rooms are always kept in great and clean conditions. They have separate floors reserved for different workouts (cardio floor, weight lifting floor, woman's workout/classes floor). Very good and classy staff too.

Whassup? From Lowell, born and raised. Did the power lifting thing several years back just to raw 405 on the bench, then got lazy. Dropped from 275 (28%) to 206.5 (11%) over 19 months from 4/08-11/09, now am bulking. Up to 223 now.
Workout just at the "Y", and fromh ome. I am able to motivate myself, but obviously have to be creative with the lack of total equipment.

Attract "regular attitude" guys who are experienced yet who want to get more intense, and/or already competitive or professional industry who want to get more involved with a like-minded team group.

There have been a few people from off the forums who have found solid, useful, local peer connections. VERY worth looking into. Chill, down to earth, learning focused and is a lot of fun . . .
