Is there anyone out there who has used or is using P90X? (Women) if you do/have, do you like it, was it effective and do you think it is worth the money?

I just started my 3rd round of P90x this week. While I haven't had a lot of fatloss I havee had tremendous strength gains. When I started I could only do 1/4 of a pullup, only 10 pushups and was curling 10lb dumbbells. Now I can do 50+ pushups at a time, 8 pullups and curl 25lb dumbbells. My endurance has improved as well as my flexibility. This program as really worked well for me. I'm one of those who needs to have a plan to follow and this program is great for that. I know what I'm doing each day and how long its going to take. I highly recommend it!

I am a woman and I want to know what other women thought about it. I value a man's prospective however I think it would be more useful to me to hear how women like it since all i have read online it seems more geared to men.

hmmm I am not sure about that. I liked it, but it is a program that I lost a little muscle mass on. I leaned up nicely on it though. If anything I would say its geared towards women, but then again I am no a woman ... lol

Ur Funny, Daddy. I am looking to lean up I still have quite a bit of muscle under a little too much fat and I am looking to loose the fat and just tone the muscle. I did body building when I was in the Navy (8 years ago) and after 2 kids adn 2 bouts of PPD, I am now horribly out of shape. Unless Round is an appropriate shape...

There really is no such thing as "geared toward men" Women and men can do the same exercises and get similar results. Sure a woman in general arent going to be as strong as a man relatively. But there is nothing different in any program that makes it male or female. P90x is a rip off program as far as im concerned. They took the principles of NASM style training, combined it with Crossfit, and added nutrition and called it a cool name and had clever marketing. Like someone else said if you need a regimented program, its good for you, but if u know how to train and do a lil research on proper nutrition you can save yourself a butt load of money

Depends on your goals. If you're trying to drop some body fat this is all going to fall back on your diet, so that's where you need to start.

As for the program itself I find it's good for building some strength, endurance, flexibility and sure you'll make some newbie gains. But if a person is looking to add more quality mass above anything else, then no I don't think this is the best program for that.

Tried it and hated it. I still do the Plyometrics and the Ab Ripper, but that's it.

I don't see any point in doing it as a program. I incorporate P90X Cardio and Ab Ripper in my work-out routine.

I agree with all of this, but I got it for free so that's why I did it.

qft!

I bought it, tried it twice (the classic and the lean programs) never completed the 90 days though because I found myself getting too bulky. The strength gains were AMAZING- I gained 10 extra pushups + multiple sets by the end of Month 1! But...it wasn't conducive to my cutting goals, so I just started incorporating my favourite exercises into my own self-directed workouts.

Never made it through the Yoga-X, though. Even when "manlied up" for the masses, I still find yoga irritating and a waste of time.

Core Synergistics = kicked my ASS. Love it.

Conclusion: borrow it from someone who already owns it so you can learn a few new exercises/moves to spice up your existing workouts.

Getting too bulky has to do with body fat...not muscle gains especially in under 90 days...

Could you post a quick summary of the nutrition they recommend? I'm curious about the macro ratios and total calories. Also, do they claim LBM gains, or is it not quantified and mainly concerned with just weight/fat loss?

Bulky with primarily bodyweight exercises. . . I'm doubting it.

Someone needs to look up p90x workouts. There are many weighted exercises

I just started the classic version of P90X on Monday. With the classic version there are 3 days of strength training, two days of cardio and one day of yoga. So far I have done two days of strength and while the chest and back day were mostly body weight exercises (pull ups, push ups chin ups ect.), the arms and shoulders were all with dumb bells. The program gives you the option of lifting heavy or light, I have chosen 6-10 reps over the 12-15. The leg and back workout is a mix of body weight and dumb bells to. For me this program works well because even though I have dabbled in weight training in the past, I am still new and need guidance.

I understand this program to be more towards fitness then actual body building and that's fine with me. I need to drop a few pounds before I even think of bulking, plus I want to see whats under this layer of fat which I will get by diet. The program will not be for everyone and as some have previously posted they use some of the dvds in their training, which I will probably end up doing after this round. It's all a matter of what your current goals are and if the program will fit that, if you want to gain mass then this isn't for you.
