Hello,

I would like to ask your opinion on few items i have found on ebay...

1st would a dumbell set of 85kg in cast:
cgi.ebay.co.uk/85KG-OLYMPIC-DUMBELLS-SET-DUMBBELL-WEIGHTS-RRP-200_W0QQitemZ110448707548QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Str ength_Training?hash=item19b74187dc

2nd would be 85kg set in rubber:
cgi.ebay.co.uk/85KG-OLYMPIC-RUBBER-COATED-GRIP-DUMBELL-SET-DUMBBELLS_W0QQitemZ110434746527QQcmdZViewItemQQptZ UK_Strength_Training?hash=item19b66c809f

Which one is better? because till now i only had experience with a cast...

Would that be enough weight for most exercises? because i wont be able to get a barbell due to my flat being too small for a barbell bench. :(

I think the seller also has 110kg sets but i am not sure.

Also what bench should i get to get the most out of the exercises? The budget i would think shouldn't go any higher then ?300 that's I think like $489. I was looking at ironmaster superbench any alternatives?

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance for everyone's input. Much appreciated.

That's not a bad set but it still only gives you 2 42.5 kilo dumbbells I'm not up on UK prices though. The collars suck so would have to be replaced immediately. I'm betting you would want more wight for some exercises withing a month or 2. It really depends on your workout protocol more than anything else how fast you outgrow them, but you will on some exercises almost immediately, and they aren't really long enough to just buy more weight for. None of this is a problem and I would say they are a fine set if you had a barbell to do the heavy stuff with. You don't necessarily need a bench to make good use of a barbell. It is quite possible to get a good lower body workout without a bench at all provided you have enough weight. I seriously would look for the space to put in a real home gym with a power cage if I were you, either that or keep going to the commercial gym to get a real heavy workout.

So maybe i should get the 110kg set, that would be like 55kg a dumbbell? What collars should i get if the ones on the dumbells are not good?

I know commercial gm is the way to go, but the one i have around me is like 60?/month too expensive for me at a current climate.

So i am stuck with a bench an a pair of dumbbells for now :)

I'd just get cast dumbells, as heavy as possible.

Persnally for olympic dumbell work, I'd use something like this;

A decent set of collars will set your back at least 20 quid a pair. And if you're spending that much, you might as well get the best.

As for the Ironmaster super bench, it's massively overpriced here in the UK.

Do a ebay search for cybex, see what benches come up. You should be able to get one for less than 200.

Thanks for the info essexlad, i was looking for the ivankos in UK but i couldnt find them, thanks for the link. maybe you have other special supplier links that you could PM me. Only suppliers that sell quality products. Much appreciated.

I have found this guy selling the equipment for 520 without auction cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280415229240&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT i am thinking of taking it because it seems a good seeing there isnt much second hand stuff on gumtree or ebay.

P.S U know the link you gave me is that for a pair or for 1 ?25 couz it doesnt say...

Should've replied to your other thread in here. Oh well.
I'm pretty sure the price is for 2 collars.
I'll send a PM your way tomorrow evening, when I've got more time.
