hey everyone. so i had surgery on my left shoulder on January of this year and it was suppose to be fully healed in 6 months according to the surgeon and its still not fully healed now. (i'm suspecting frozen shoulder)

i did some research and found out that Synovial Fluid can help surgery recovery, it
normally lubricates the gap between the arm bone and socket to help the shoulder joint move.

my question is what foods contains Synovial Fluids?

and also what other nutritional foods/vitiams can i take to help increase recovery and break Adhesions ((abnormal bands of tissue) grow between the joint surfaces, restricting motion)

PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME OUT, IM IN DESPERATE NEED TO GET MY SHOULDER HEALED, ITS BEEN TOO LONG!!!!!!!!!!

Before posting in two sections, why not wait and see what people respond to you, as sunngodd stated, have you tried talking to your doctor?

Foods that contain synovial fluid? Errmmmm.... you would have to eat intact entire joints for that to happen (synovial fluid = fluid between joints!).... So I am not sure if that sounds appealing to you or not... But it doesn't sound particularly tasty to me... Oh... and EATING it will do jack-squat for your joints. :o You actually need it in your own joint for it to actually work. ;)

With regard to healing: ^ what your doc has to say re healing is going to be more correct that anything anyone on the net can tell you. We have no idea what you had done or what the clinical indication for it was, and what prognostic factors you had were. We also do not know any underlying issues or co-morbid conditions you may have... So physiotherapy & a good rehabilitation program is going to be the best thing you can do. Not only for healing but also to help breakdown adhesions and help mobility. [note: SEVERE adhesions would need to be removed surgically...].

In terms of nutrition - I wrote somethings in the following:
connective tissue healing => http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=119441901
bone healing => http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=118575741

You can get injections to help with joint lubrication, but I'm sure the surgeon would suggest this if it would be helpful for your specific condition.

It can take up to a full year to recover from shoulder surgery. Be patient and diligent with PT. Eat adequate amount of protein and EFAs. That's about all the conservative measures you can take at this point.

Good luck.

hey thanks for both of your help.

i read your other posts, very informative. i was wondering if the following that i take would be helpful:

fish oils, glucosamine, MSM, tumeric, ginger, green lipped mussels, aminos, mutli (for all those vitiams you listend).

is there anything else im misssing?
and is there a good multi you can recommand, cause GNC multi is just being insane with their high pricing now a days.

Just get a a synovial fluid injection. Sort of like putting air in a tire.

Abstract

Viscosupplementation of the hip for symptomatic osteoarthritis appears to be safe and effective in more than 25 yr of use in Europe. More than 11 studies suggest that viscosupplementation in the hip is as effective as viscosupplementation in the knee. It appears to be a safe and reasonable alternative to nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs or intra-articular steroids for the treatment of osteoarthritis pain. Viscosupplementation in the hip may delay the need for hip replacement surgery. Viscosupplementation in the hip appears to work better in patients with fewer radiographic changes of osteoarthritis. Placement of viscosupplement in the hip under real-time ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance is safe and well tolerated. Hip joint communication with the iliopsoas bursa may be a factor in studies of the effectiveness of viscosupplementation in the hip.

I have never tried it. I mentioned it because I have seen it come up a lot

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synovial_fluid

excerpt: "Synovial fluid is made of hyaluronic acid and lubricin, proteinases, and collagenases."

Now, which one would work if taken orally?

There are a few different HA products on the market. These are some of the makers:

BioCell Collagen II. About 10% HA (the rest being collagen type ii and chondroitin sulfate)

http://www.biocelltechnology.com/

Hyal-Joint

http://www.hyal-joint.com/

and there are more. Don't know which one is the best. Since these are inexpensive products, I suggest you research about how long it takes to feel the effects and just buy one.
