What are some good food sources (not supplement) of DHA. I only like canned tuna for fish and someone recently told me that although flax is high in O-3, it is not high in DHA (not sure if this is true). What about canola, olive, or soybean oil? Relative concentrations (mg?)?

Flax isn't a direct source of DHA. It contains ALA which can then be converted to EPA and DHA by your body but the efficiency of conversion is terrible. Outside of fatty fish, algae and eggs from hens fed a special diet, the sources are limited.

yeah, that is what i have read. It seems I have a good amount of O3 but mostly from ALA. Iwish i liked seafood but can't stand the texture or smell (which is why i can do canned tuna). Does canned salmon still taste like real salmon? I know that will obviously have more fat than the tuna.

If you don't eat a ton of fish than you pretty much need to turn to supplements. Like in10city said, flax isn't a direct source of DHA (neither are Chia seeds, although they spoil less easily, so probably better than Flax) which is why I save my money for fish oil supps.

Try lemon or mint scented cod liver oil

well i just looked up some numbers and it seems like 150mg per week is the Recommended Intake. 1 can of chunk light tuna is 380+ and 1 can of albacore is over 1000. I also get trace amounts in eggs (20 in reg. 150 in fortified), soybean oil, and cabot (omega fortified) cheese. So a couple cans of tuna plus the others and I should be fine? Does this sound right?

really because I get about 1400 mg of DHA per day... Soybean oil doesn't have DHA.
