Wow, that is one stacked lineup! Awesome to see that age is not a deterrent from ripping it up on stage.
14. Kevin Ruse - Poland, Ohio
Awesome, Ohio boys are representing! Scott Fanti will be shredded as usual. I just saw Walter Smith a few days ago and his upper body size is INSANE!
Bump for the 2009 PRO MASTERS CUP since it's tomorrow, for those interested in attending.

Now, youre doing one pretty soon, arent you?

I was at the show.
I was pretty amazed with what these Masters Pros brought to the stage. First off, the judges literally worked these guys for about 30-35 minutes during pre-judging.
The overall Pro winner, Steve Subcleff, was far and away the dryest competitor on stage...w/ great symmetry and muscularity. I really did not think anyone challenged him for that #1 spot.
The 2nd place finisher, Jaime Rosario.....I remember seeing him on stage a few yrs back...I believe as a middleweight. I was pretty surprised to see him as a heavyweight....For a Master's competitor to put on that much weight....I'd like to know what kind of off-season program he was on. I spoke briefly w/ one of the Pro competitors and he was quite surprised as well.
In the lightweight class...I had actually picked Wendell Webb as the 1st place guy....However, it was close...so I could see it going either way. I just thought Wendell had a physique that flowed perfectly...and legs that were dynamite.
***On a side note...This show was HUGE....I believe I heard there was something like 157 competitors. It seemed that they got a bit behind later in the day...and REALLY started to speed things up. I had never seen this before, but, the Open Mens lightweight class went out there....did there quarter turns....and were told to walk off stage...LITERALLY DID NOT HIT ONE POSE...I spoke w/ one of the competitors in that class and he was so angry that he did not return for the night show. The rest of the classes posed..but what seemed like a speed-posing round....just on and off the stage.
I think a main reason for the rushing was b/c of the quantity of people....but moreso, because of the number of female type classes. Is it really necessary for women to have Bodybuilding, Fit-Body, Figure, Bikini.....It just seems like such overkill..and I think the INBF is partially to blame....I mean as an audience member, I got tired of seeing the same women compete in each class...and there were A LOT OF THEM....this took up a lot of time.
Overall, I loved this show...and have loved watching and participating in this show over the past 8 or 9 years. The promoter does a fantastic job marketing the show and making things run smoothly. There were several booths set up...I got to meet Brandon Curry, Desmond Miller, Kevin English (who by the way is GINORMOUS....he told me he is contemplating whether to go 202 or not next yr). The quality of physiques was top notch...all the way from the pros to the amateurs to the teens.
I guess I got a little side tracked here....but wanted to give my mini review.

Hey Wendell,
Thanks for the props on my father. I wasn't able to attend, however my brother was with him and im sure you talked to him a little. My father and walter are very good friends, and walter actually told my dad that my dad should have beat him. My brother told me you looked the best he has ever saw you! So congrats and good luck if you are doing the worlds, i should be there in attendance.
Im not gonna comment on jamie, however he weighed in at 195lbs, and with the same condition as he was at 176lbs 1 1/2 years ago. I guess a lot of guys were talking about that.
Sean, i need to get over my injuries first, i want to compete bad.

Wow. He looks awesome. I dont think ive ever seen pics of your dad......how old is he? Absolutely incredible for any age....
It must be really cool to have a dad thats really into bb'ing. My dad and I are both into cars so that brings us together......but id love to get him into training more than just his current "hit the gym whenever" routine.

Yeah...not to make this about Jamie....but something did not look right to me...and I know it had some people talking. I could see a 25 yr old putting that much weight on...but not a masters competitor. Either way, the guy looked awesome...and I am 100% speculating...so no disrespect to him at all. I guess it is a good sign when people question your improvements.

Congrats to all the participants at the show as I thought the Masters really brought it for this show. Good meeting these guys (reunited with some from last years WNBF Worlds and a few, like Wendell, who I saw here on the forums first before meeting them at the show). I'm sure we'll all get to meet up again at the upcoming WNBF Worlds. I congratulated Steve afterwards as he was drier than dry and a deserving winner.

Hi Wendell,
Thanks and it was great to see you again, along with all of the other guys.
Congrats to you too! You looked great and you always come into a show in great condition.
Although I have not seen too many pictures from the show yet, Mike looked great in the pictures I have with him in the overall. He won the lightweight class at the Masters last year in Iowa and I thought he looked much better this year. From what I saw in the prejudging pics I have Paul I. looked better than I have ever seen him too. It was great to see him on stage again - coming back from some injuries. I was disapointed not to see Rodney show. I met him last year at the Worlds and my wife and I really liked him. I was surprised to see he is not even going to the Worlds this year either.
Two weeks till the Worlds now. It will be a battle in each class . There is a lot of depth and talent in that lineup. I am looking forward to it (and a much needed rest to follow).
Best of luck to you at the Worlds!
