Let me start by saying having kids at a younger age is pretty darn cool. I'd say your 20's, lol.... Because my oldest is almost 21 and I would strongly not advise doing that! But I have a 12 year old and a 10 year old as well. My 12 year loves rock and mostly the band Heart. So I took her to see them last night for a father daughter bonding time.

Here's our seats before the showed started, 6th row, dead center. It's closer than the picture appears.

This was when they first walked on stage. I just missed it, but Nancy's guitar has a huge Marine Corps sticker ( I'm a former Marine ) on the back side of it that she showed off just before I took this. Oh and I will say this, Nancy Wilson still hot as ever!!!!!

There were only like 6 guitar picks handed out that show... My daughter and I walked up to the stage at the end and she was given one which was darn cool. Proud moment. But, Heart still kicks much ass! They did two covers of Led Zeppelin and one from The Who.

So like I was saying. Having kids that you can hang out with and still be a kid yourself is just a blast. I mean, hell I've never grow all the way up, lol.. I still love and play video games.. :D

nice. Didn't realize Ann and Nancy were still touring. Makes me feel old to say it, but I've loved that band for 30 years. How did they sound?

They sounded spot on. I was shocked at Ann's voice after all these years. She added some vocals here and there to songs. So I knew this was no lip sync going on, lol. There power songs like Barracuda ( which they opened with ), Crazy on you, Straight On were all just powerful still to this day. They did covers of Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin), Going to California (Led Zeppelin) and Love Reign O'er Me (The Who). All very very well done. Band is a true classic.

nice! i took my 16 yo to her first show as well, last year. when the lead guitarist walked by and i more or less "handled" him lol - my coolness quotient went up by a whole lot. we saw carolina liar, a band i can't recall from la who were really kick ass, and also headliners one republic. it was at the fillmore here in the city, and true to my concert loving self i got her right up on the rail to get as up close and personal as possible.

I saw Heart when they were touring to promote their Heart Heart album ("Never"). It kicked ass. They did a few LZ covers then, too.

Yeah, we took the 10 year old daughter to see Justin Timberlake a year ago. I was just smiling saying good show dear, good show, lol.. Awh, the things we do for our little ones. It wasn't bad, just so not me.

Yeah, I was telling my 12 year old about how Heart has been around some 35 years. She had a odd time grasping that one, lol...

My 8 year old likes def lepard and they come around from time to time, I'm just not sure I want him in an environment where I have so little control.

Oh yes. There was a 420 friendly atmosphere going on here. Thank god it was an out door show. Plenty of folks that had a little to much to drink. You know, the normal, lol. But nothing kids nowadays in the teenage bracket don't know or see about anyway. I'm very fortunate to have daughter's that are well grounded and get good grades, etc.

Dep Lep was just here as well with Poison like a few months ago. I didn't care to even go. I was a huge Def Lep fan when they were real "Rock" in the early 80's.

Who'd want to go see a band from 25 years ago that sucked in the first place? :D

It's kind of a shame, at a theme park this summer they had a family friendly karioke type of group, my boy was shaking his fist and singing out loud with them, but a real concert, man that would blow him away. They should a have a family friendly section at concerts like they do at baseball games.

That is cool that you were able to share that concert experience with your daughter. I saw Heart back in the day and they put on a great show.

Definitely cool and I can relate! It's especially cool when you can appreciate the same ere together.

*Note: John Paul Jones (Zeppelin) worked with and produced many bands, which included Heart. He produced and even played several instruments on a Heart's 90's live album. Might have something to do with their covers of Zep songs.

Very cool, and some good pics. Poor Ann....never has been able to shed that weight.

Oh, I hear ya. She was just the butt end of merciless jokes for sooooo many years when it first got out she had gained so much weight. Remember that? We're talking late night talk show host jokes to...every area imaginable.

I was annoyed when I went to go see Heart. They only did two songs from their 80's period. Of course I was probably the only one in the audience that felt that way. :D

She did do an acoustic version of "These Dreams" which was fantastic.

op way to go on sharing musicexperience with the kids. My parents did this and I strongly believe it added to my musical appreciation and diversity. Cant wait to get my daughter to a show...

Yeah, I was brought into the music world by my parents as well. They took me to KISS in 1976/77. I wore the make-up and all too, lol... I still own that tour program from way back then. Since then, music has been the biggest part of my life with countless concerts, etc. Taking your kids and passing on that torch is an awesome feeling. More so if the music you heard at there age is still around. Today's music seems so meaningless and empty.
