dynasty/keeper with IDP, PPR, 12 team league, very competitive

My team (starters + flex):

QB (1) - Brees (Aaron Rodgers, hahaha..., Kyle Orton)
RB (2+1) - Adrian Peterson, DWill, Thomas Jones (Leon Washington, Jonathan Stewart, Chester Taylor)
WR (3) - Marques Colston, Lava Coles, Steve Breaston (Donnie Avery, Isaac Bruce, Michael Jenkins, Jeremy Maclin, Limas Sweed)
TE (1) - John Carlson (Vernon Davis)
DB (1+2) - Anthony Henry, Richard Marshall, Charles Tillman, Gibril Wilson
LB (1+2) - Lance Briggs, Akeem Jordan, Lawrence Timmons
DL (1) - Terrell Suggs, Glenn Dorsey

anyway, the trade that was offered to me really took me back

I give Adrian Peterson
I get Steven Jackson and Matt Forte

now this one has me puzzled. I am truly at a loss. Adrian Peterson is easily the #1 RB in dynasty. Steven Jackson is great in a PPR, but is injury prone, and Matt Forte SHOULD be outstanding, but so far he has been downright useless, which certainly gives one pause before taking him.

My WRs suck, so I am giving consideration to taking this trade and seeing what I can do about trading one of the RBs for a stud WR. I am pretty deep at RB, but the relative advantage of having AD as a starter is pretty big.

I'm torn on this one. Logic says "go for it", but my gut instinct says "you don't trade away the best player in fantasy FB"

interested in discussion on this. Reps for anyone who can come up with solid arguments for and against this trade.

Hes looking for a quick fix, Forte hasn't done sh!t this year and neither has Jackson.

Sjax ran for 104 yards and caught 4 passes this past game. Not great, but not too bad.

Forte hasn't done anything though, and that is what frightens me.

your giving up someone that has the ability to score LOTS of points for guys that haven't proven anything this year

I wouldnt do it, the Rams Oline is possibly the worst in the entire league, and as you said Sjax has been injury prone, mostly because he has ran behind a horrible offensive line every year he has played. Im predicting the Rams score the least amount of points in the NFL this year, no WR's and a horrible offensive line my reasoning

however, if you think guys in your league will sleep on that fact and can find a guy with an abundance of WR's and not much of a RB then jackson may look very sexy to him

I own both Forte and SJax in a PPr league. Both players are excellent receivers out of the back field, while AD isn't. Lets look at some upcoming schedules:

Forte: @Sea, Det, @Atl, @Cin, Cle, Ari, @SF
Jackson: GB, @SF, Min, @Jac, Ind, @Det, NO
AD: Doesnt really matter.

Forte played the steelers and GB the first two weeks, while I was upset with his perfomances, I wasn't surprised. He has such a favorable schedule coming up and if I didn't own Forte before, I would be going to nearest Forte owner and buying low as hell.

SJax does have inhury problems, but he is one of the better backs in the league when healthy. SJax IS the Rams offense, but that hasn't stopped him in the past.

To put this in prospective; if you offered me AD for Forte and SJax, I'd say no.

And btw, Forte,SJax,DWill sounds better than AD,DWill, Jones.

How did you get Brees, AP, and D Will?!?!?!

dynasty my friend, dynasty. :D

I grabbed Brees back when everyone was drafting Manning and Brady early.
I grabbed Adrian Peterson in a trade before 2007.

I gave Larry Johnson
I got Adrian Peterson, Donte Stallworth (yeah, I know) and a 1st rounder the following season

No. Your team is built to win forever. Imagine when D-Will hits free agent next year then you will have D-Will, J-Stew, and AP all as teams primary backs.

I would do that in a heartbeat and trade to get a WR dude. You HAVE to get better wrs if you want to win your league. Jackson is going to get his touches whether through the ground or receptions. Fortes schedule gets much easier down the road and he got 5 receptions last game compared to 0 in the first one. Cutler knows that he needs to get the ball to him more.

Lets say your starting RBs are Jackson and Forte. Thats a legit backfield right there. I don't know that much about Dynasty leagues, but you could trade D Williams or Jackson since he is a little older and get a very good WR like maybe Jennings or VJax. That would freaking give you 2 legit RBs and 2 legit WRs. Coles sucks my psychotic left nut.

And you got 3 of the best back up RB's too. Washington is a solid PPR guy who is a great flex play and Thomas Jones may be out next year anyway. Stewart is awesome and he is in a 50:50 split or near it with D Will and the way AP runs he will either get hurt or need to be spelled more often and Taylor is the better receiver out of the backfield too. Id do it brotha.

yeah Q, I'm really wavering on this one. I desperately need a WR. Mine suck.

I would do it.

You said your WR suck and it is up to how you feel about your chances of winning this year.

In the long run(next season) you will be getting two elite backs for one. All of the guys involved in this trade will have injury issues-Forte will with the workload he is getting-so throw that out. Thomas Jones will be done soon and you never know what is going to happen with DWill/JStew-what if they go to the Browns?
Make the deal and RB is set and you can focus on the WRs next year and maybe deal one of your lesser guys for one/

I think you should do it. You need a complete team. Not only that has big holes. You get 2 stud RB's for the price of one. Yeah it's AP but you can trade one of those RB's away for a WR. It will make your team a little more complete. You can get a top WR for Jackson or Forte. It will be like Trading away Peterson for a #1 RB and a #1 WR. I don't see how you could turn that down.

I would also do it. Package up one of your RBs with a lesser WR, and get back a stud WR and maybe a sleeper RB (Bernard Scott, T Choice, Coffee, R Jennings, etc) for later. You have the depth at RB to pull this off. I think AP is the #1, but it's week 3, and if someone is giving you 2 1st rounders for 1, then I take it and get whatever else I want. I might even sit on those RBs, especially with Forte going against Seattle, and sell higher than their current value.

Good luck on this one man!

Honestly I'm always weary of giving one guy, getting 2 back etc.

Anything where they're giving you X amount crappy players for less better players because that's another bye week you have to worry about as well as roster space.
