1. I have always heard casein takes 6hours to fully digest, but what does this actually imply. If someone takes in 30g, does it gradually digest/abosrb/used during those 6 hours or would it be similar to taking 30g of whey hours later?
2. Whey is used for its fast digestion but I have heard it can take 3 hours to digest. What is the digestion rate if eaten alone?
3. Fat and fiber is also said to slow digestion. Is there any estimate as to how great an effect it has? If whey is a)cheaper and b) has a higher bio. avail. then would it be more beneficial to consume whey + fat + fiber than casein?
4. What is a fair estimate with whole foods (meats, eggs) when eaten as part of a full meal?

Casein will form sort of like a gel in your stomach rather than being digested right away and it's just gonna drip feed you with protein. As for digestion of whey it shouldn't be more than 30 mins , 1 hour max. And don't worry bout having to make your meals digest slower unless just before bed which is quite debatable so just eat any protein and have a normal/complete meal.

You are on the right track with number 3, casein is completely unnecessary as a supplement, it isn't something to worry about as digestion rate has no noticeable bearing on body composition.

Didn't know casein had similar immediate spikes or that PB and dairy actually had better protein absorption rates than meat/fish

1. gradually absorbed
2. under an hr if digested on an empty stomach
3. ur over thinking

I assume you mean 'is casein good only for bed or can it be taken any time'?
To which the answer is 'eat it when you want it' < it has even been shown to be of benefit POST workout.
Faster is not always 'better'. ;)

Much of digestion rate has been made, although IMO it has more to do with supplement marketing than actual utility for bodybuilding or fitness purposes.
If the bros are so worried about going catabolik cuz their jacked fibraz don't have fast-digesting aminoz, then they should take a protein shake an hour or so before their workout. Voila. Problem solved.
