so i did two competitions this summer...one was on june 27 and the other on aug 1. I know i messed up but i am new to all this and thought 3 weeks would be enough time off after a competition to drink and eat like crap....so i went to the beach august 15 and 16 and did just that. well i woke up monday morning completely swollen from head to toe (literally) and was pretty scared. I put on 23 lbs in 2 days. monday night i went and had blood work done..
everything came back decent except my liver enzymes came back about 200 times the normal limit. so i made a follow up appointment and had more blood work done last week. my liver enzymes dropped 100 points and are looking better however my hemoglobin is low signifying anemia??? i guess the normal level is 15 and mine is at 12.5 (this number is up from 11.2 on august 17). so my doctor seems to think i may have an ulcer but she is really not sure. i have to go see a GI doctor soon and get some type of endoscopy now.
I have never been to the doctor so much in my life since these competitions and am hoping everything turns out ok. does any body have any insight on why my blood work is so messed up? i did drink alot and eat real bad the weekend of august 15 and 16, but prior to that i was eating clean and since then i have been eating clean as well.

honestly....if you go a few weeks on a relatively normal diet, not crazy binging and drinking, and get blood work done again, i bet all that stuff is gone and you're good to go...

also keep in mind training alone raises liver enzymes, an educated doc should know that. Now 200 points above I dont know about that. But, like Quelly said, I bet if you get back to it it will all balance out.
YOu cant treat your body like a temple for 5 months then completely abuse it without some negative feedback from it.
Good Luck

Thanks...that is what i was thinking but this doctor throws all these possibly things that could be wrong with me and i was like damn..did i really screw myself up this much? i think i am going to hold off on that other appointment and get some new blood work done next month. i dont feel any pain or anything in my stomach that would signify any issues.

yea i saw two doctors about the liver enzymes. one was acting like it was something really serious, but then the most recent doc said that my enzymes could just 200 points like that just from drinking that weekend. I;m sure the weekend combined with the shock from dieting contributed to the jump in my enzyme levels. pretty crazy stuff though. we'll see how all this works out. i am trying to avoid this GI Doctor thing. i dont think i need it. and i def. do not want to go through what i hear he is gonna do...basically put me to sleep and shove some tube down my throat. i think thats a bit extensive considering that my blood work numbers have been moving in the right direction over the past month.

update: just saw a gastro doc last week...had to get more blood work done. if my labs come back improved then i am ok and nothing to worry about. however, he also had me schedule an ultrasound on wednesday to rule out other liver issues. i'll update again when i get other results. hopefully my labs come back fine and i will be good to go.
