Soooooooo. . . a thread has been started for ladies doing a September to December transformation. I've signed on because I'm a sucker for a challenge. I'm going to take some photos this weekend some time and possibly post them up.

I signed up for ediets and I'm doing the Eating for Life plan on there, which is 40/40/20. I took their little quiz and they have me at roughly 1400 calories per day to lose 1-2lb per week. As you probably know EFL also includes a weekly free day, which I'll probably end up trying to keep down to a free meal or two. It also includes such wonderments as bread, whole wheat pasta, protein pudding, snack bars, and cheese, so don't have kittens about the fact that my diet isn't "clean." I'm getting my protein, healthy fats, fruits, and veggies and I'm in a caloric deficit; I'll be fine. :D

My training is a mixture of boxing and crossfit. That'll be fun.

Supps: fish oil, green tea extract, women's multivitamin, and REDuction. I reallyreallyreally like the REDuction so far.

As of my last check-in, I weighed 145 and my bodyfat was 28.5%. I'd like to get below 20% by the end of the year. I weigh and measure on Tuesdays.

Also, I went to OfficeMax and bought a packet of those chintzy little gold stars like teachers put on kids' papers when the make a 100 on a test. I'm going to give myself a gold star for every day I stick with the diet program and one for every time I work out. For some reason stuff like that really motivates me. Already I've caught myself thinking, "If I eat that, I won't get a gold star!"

Today's eats:
M1: Denver Omelette, made with 3/4c egg beaters, peppers, onions, 1/2oz of lean ham, 1/4 oz ow-fat cheddar. 1/2 of an english muffin with 1/2tsp of Simply Fruit

M2: Zone bar, eaten while driving for work

M3: BLT wrap, 3 pcs of turkey bacon, 1/4oz low-fat cheese, lettuce, tomato, and fat-free mayo on a whole wheat tortilla.

M4: 2 graham crackers spread with natty peanut butter

M5: Taco pasta salad: 1 and 1/2oz whole-wheat penne, 3 and 1/2 oz extra-lean ground beef, lots and lots of veggies. 1/4oz low-fat cheddar, 1tbsp light sour cream

M6: Protein pudding made with 1/2c skim milk, 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder, and 1tbsp fat-free, sugar-free pudding.

No gold star for exercise today. I didn't feel good yesterday and the day before and had a low grade fever. I think I successfully fought off whatever I was battling but wanted to take 1 more day off from training to make sure.

*1 gold star today

Hey emoore! Congrats on starting a new journal!

I'm in the sept-dec. transformation too - but I'm really bad about starting journals =( Actually, I good at starting them - horrible at keeping them up. I may try it one more time for this though =)

That's so funny about the gold stars! They do have some kind of magical influence over people. I teach high school seniors, and I put shiny stickers on their good work - they love it! Imagine that =)

I'll be following you along - also, what kind of results have you gotten from reduction yet? I wanna take a fat burner but am hesitant..these last 5-7 lbs. don't seem to be budging =(

What part of texas are you in?

Lol thanks. :D I'm sure eating clean is a wonderful thing, but I gotta have stuff like cheese and pasta and bread. I can eat clean for maybe 2 days before going nutzo.

Hey, thanks for the star! It's funny and kinda childish but it's actually pretty motivating.

REDuction is Controlled Lab's thermogenic. It's the first thermo I've ever been able to take and still sleep at night, due to the fact that it has an AM/PM formula.

Yeah, me too. I'm giving it another shot.

I can't believe it took me this long to come up with the gold star idea. My husband has even gotten in on it, watching me stick my gold star on the calendar at the end of the day, asking what I have to do to earn one.

I'm outside Dallas. I've been on the REDuction for less than a week. I've lost almost 2lb. . . mostly water I'm sure. . . and have good energy and sleep like the dead at night. It works pretty well for appetite/craving control as well. Every other thermo I've ever tried really screws with my sleep, so I'm happy to have found this one.

I just bumped up to the full doseage (2 pills) today, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Today did not go as planned. Spent most of it on the other end of town negotiating to buy a new (used) motorcycle.

Here's the bike:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/Emspics/CIMG0329.jpg

Anyway, I didn't get to workout and I kinda had to make do with my meals. I'm sure my macros weren't a perfect 40/40/20 but I know may calories were right around 1400.

M1: Same omelette as yesterday
M2: Grilled chicken on a whole wheat pita, big huge green salad with basalmic vinegar
M3: Balance bar bought at a truck stop
M4: String cheese and apple bought at a gas station
M5: Half of a personal-sized BBQ chicken pizza on wheat crust at the California Pizza Kitchen.

What do you think, should I get a gold star for that or no?

Ah bummer about you living outside of Dallas. I'm in Houston and was kinda hoping I could find a workout buddy. :( None of my friends really are that interested in working out..and sometimes I need some support.

My parents live in waxahachie though and I went to college in Denton - so I know your area pretty well. :)

Hmmm. I'm a pretty big hard a** on myself - so I wouldn't give myself a gold star unless everything was PERFECT. I'm only like that cuz I know that if i start doing things half-a**ed, I'll get sloppy. But I think you did pretty good considering the situation!

Good luck with the star system, I think I would enjoy that too - they talked about having me get something simple started at work along those lines.

Today's grub:

M4: 3oz turkey, 3 triscuits, orange

M5: Sloppy joes made w/extra lean turkey on whole wheat bun

That sloppy joe sure sounds enticing right about now. I get to have my "eat whatever I want for one meal" day on Thursday, which will consist of pizza and chocolate. Even though I never use to like pizza :/ Weird.
My diet is pretty boring in comparison to yours.

You should def. try the sloppy joes; the recipe is in the Eating for Life book. I love almost everything in that book.

Oh my Lord today's workout was like something out of the ninth circle of hell. The first hour, we ran. Outside. It's like 95 degrees outside. We did some intervals, some steady state, some people puked. Then the second hour we went inside the gym and they set up this huge circuit of stuff like jumping rope, squats, lunges, hitting the bags, hitting the mitts, running stairs, etc. Each station lasted 3 minutes with 30 seconds of rest in between. We did each station twice before moving on to the next one. Definite gold star for today's workout.

We're "peaking" this week to get our conditioning in order for the tournament on the 19th. Next week we'll taper off and do some stretching and easy technique sparring.

Today's adventures in grub:

M1: Oatmeal and egg beaters
M2: Mandarin tuna salad: tuna, mandarin oranges, and raisins with a little fat-free mayo on a bed of salad greens
M3: Southwestern salmon salad: salmon, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, black beans, and salsa on salad greens
Pre-workout: Zone bar
Post-workout: parmesan-crusted tilapia with some wheat pasta and veggies
Dessert: Chocolate protein pudding with blueberries.

Gold star for meals today.

Hi emoore!
Cuuuute cornrows! You look adorable!

Nice work on committing to a transformation. I'm transforming also :)

Your workout sounds hellacious! TWO HOURS??? Holy moly, I'd definitely be puking :) Sounds like just my kinda torture!

Good luck!

Ooo, I think I'll do just that!
It sound too enticing to let that offer slip.

And your workout sounds INTENSE! As far as cardio is concerned, I'm probably the worst at it. I only do moderate cardio every day, but it's the strength I really love to push myself at. It's not so grueling as cardio. You kindda get sucked into it.

Yeah, torture is the right word for it. It's not fun. It's not "a great challenge." It's just frickin brutal.

Do it. Tasty stuff in that book.

Thanks! :D
It's just a small local boxing tournament. It's officially for Diezyseis de Septiembre, which is Mexico's Independence Day (lots of Texas boxers are of Mexican heritage).

I did basically the same 2hr workout again last night, but with the fun addition of this exercise: I laid on the ground while a partner stood on a chair and dropped a 10lb medicine ball on my stomach from 10 feet up. That was fun. I kept wanting to laugh but I was afraid I'd laugh at the wrong time and my spleen would shoot out my nose!

I don't remember what I ate yesterday and I'm too lazy to go get my journal and type it all out, but it was good stuff and on the plan, so I earned 2 gold stars for yesterday.

I'm doing 1400 cals per day with a 2500 cal free/refeed day once a week. That comes on Saturday! Hoorah!

My in-laws came to visit for the weekend, and my mother-in-law can FRIGGIN COOK, so, uh, no gold stars for the weekend. Lol. I did go to boxing on Monday, for just a 1 hour workout this time, so that was good. Going again tonight and I'll report more this evening.

Today, I will earn a gold star for my food. :)

Don't stress about the lack of gold stars on the weekend... sometime M-I-L's are usefull!

Top stuff with the workouts... lots of gold stars there :D

Looks like I'm not going to get to fight this weekend after all. :( No adult females anywhere near my weight signed up. I feel kind of sad, kind of relieved. Oh well, that'll give me a chance to come in at a lower weight at the next one.

Been training for a little over a year. This was supposed to be my first fight.
