My husband is trying to convince me that if I am lifting at the gym surrounded by guys...noone would pay any attention to me. I know that I personally love to watch people in any setting. How is it possible to not scan the room and check people out? I know the people on the treadmills and ellipticals have to be looking around...aren't most people bored out of their mind doing LISS?

He's right and wrong. People will notice you, but most people are focused on their own workout.

If I am lifting I focus on my workout and if something is really sticking out (hot chick) it might catch my eye. If I am doing cardio I watch everyone in the gym anything to keep my mind off of the boredom of cardio.

I don't like to look around too much... (although I really do love people watching)... because most men take it the wrong way. I mean sometimes someone is just in your field of vision and they think youre checking them out. Ugh. Then before you know it they're coming up to you, interrupting your workout, and asking for your number! All because you were looking straight ahead while on a machine finishing your set...
outside of the gym (with sunglasses on).. let the people watching begin!!!!!!!

I'm pretty focused on my workouts. But I do notice the random people with terrible form or doing these exercises that I've never seen. I do like to watch one of the powerlifters at my gym. This guy is crazy strong and I enjoy watching him attempt certain lifts.
Other than that I really don't notice other people.

Most people in my gym seem focussed on their workout, having said that I notice women looking around a lot more than men do. I think this is because the men between sets tend to watch whatevers sports showing on the TV screens the gym has.
I wear my ipod, and only tend to look round if I hear weights hitting other weights as the 'clunk' still make me jump.
I just get on with my work out, never noticed anyone noticing me, then again I do get in the zone, sometimes not even noticed my boyfriends stood near me till he says something!

People will look, but its more like a glance....they will just look for a few seconds...everyone does that, you cant expect them not to do that...
But yea, in the weightroom the guys might give a few glances more than normal...but I dont think it will be anything uncomfortable. And sometimes there is that one person, that just stares....like gives you a fatty blank stare for like 30 minutes...oh god I hate those people so much.
So for the most part, your husband is right...I know that when I see a girl squatting or deadlifting over 300 lbs (this one like 140~150lb pure muscle chick at my gym with titanic legs), I tend to stare at her in amazement.....but the average girls are just doing their own thing.

I don't look at any one to busy with my work out but there's a power lifter I just can't help it the guy deadlifts with around 700lbs , bench presses with over 500lbs but that's about all he does

Once my Ipod is on and I'm training, I tend to block out everything. Although like Herstory I still jump when someone drops the weights. LoL... I try my damnedest not to look... but that may be related to my ocd. :D

I like too look, not going to lie.
Besides I would rather get to know someone who doesn't believe in getting drunk all of the time.
