Hi,
I have decided to start changing my old ways and habits to become fitter and healthier. I?m 20yrs old and I weigh in at 160 pounds and I have decided I would like to lose at least 40 pounds. My greatest motivation is that I want to increase myself confidence as I lack that because of how I feel with the way look.
I don?t really know much about losing weight and I don?t want to go on a crash diet type of thing which isn?t good for the body, so I would be very greatful if I could receive guidance in my diet and work out programme. My goal is to lose excess weight and body fat but also become toned and lean. I would really appreciate help which would help me change.
Thank you
Gerri

I'm kinda biased but I lost 25 pounds in 4 months doing keto. I eat more than most females and I'm never ever hungry. I can also maintain at a crazy high level of cals. Check it out in the nutrition forum under keto. I'm sure you're going to get more great advice from other ladies about the way they did it too. Just try to figure out what you think you can best stick to in the long run...

There are a lot of great resources out there, but the following are two books that I have found to be helpful:
The Body Sculpting Bible for Women by Hugo Rivera and Villepigue
Clean Eating by Tosca Reno
Both are really easy to read and provide great explanations.

Thanks gypsie77! Is there any rules or guidelines which you can offer that i can keep in mind to help me kick start this? I have been cutting down on carbs and increasing protien in my diet but i am not familiar with what to do to get best results both with diet and workout...
Thanks,
Gerri

Gerri,
n regards to diet, I created my initial nutrition plans for myself using information that I had gathered from the resources mentioned above. Particularly, the use of the gylcemic index (inside the Body Sculpting Bible for Women) to determine what to eat when. I also used a calorie calculator to determine how many calories I should be consuming based on my height, goals (ie. weight loss) and activity level. I started eating clean, having 5-6 meals a day and tried to keep my cheat meals to once a week. I lost about 20 lbs on my own. However, it can all get complicated and I started running out ideas.
Right now I am working with Mike Davies with The Fitness Factory who has been developing my nutrition & workout plans for my 12 week competition prep. There are a number of trainers that will develop plans online at a reasonable rate. However, if this is not an option for you check out the articles on BB.com and other resources such as livestrong.com. Hit up your local library for current books on fitness. There are also so good fitness mags out there. Hope this helps.
