Hello there,

Been reading a few articles by Lyle on crash diet but some other authors say it's not all black and white. Some people think you can screw your metabolism easily while others state that your body is "more tough" than what we usually think.

My question is, how long on a crash diet if you exercise everyday ? Does it depend what's your age, weight, starting bf% ?

Just wondering because I've seen people feeling like sh*t after 3 days on a crash diet, some people plateau quickly, some other do pretty well for 20-25 days and most people I know get good results. Sometimes it's temporary (ex. making the weight for a competition) but I know someone who lost 20 lbs within a month and his bf% was already low and he gained back only 3 lbs after on a normal diet.

Thanks a lot guys :)

It depends on the person. I can go on about 800-1000 cals and be fine for weeks. My twin brother has no energy and gets sick under 1500cals. So its all depends on the person. Try it, and see how you do

EDIT: checking in from L'Ancienne-Lorette

Many people like me fail on crash diets (cut), because we lower/drop the calorie from maintenence to lower consumption level to quickly.

From experience, slashing calories slowly over course of weeks will casusually lead to a steady weight loss (not tricking metabolism, but it wouldn't slow/drop all at once).

IMO duration on crash diet depends on the individual current BF%.

I so need statistic graph...

what do you mean by a "crash diet"? Are you talking about a PSMF or something like Lyle's RFL? i don't think you should exercise if you are on a very low calorie diet (vlcd). At super low calorie levels you consume primarily protein, so you won't have much energy for anaerobic exercise.

Depends on your starting weight/body fat%. Have you read Lyle's RFL handbook?

I was able to go on 3 months when I finally reached my goal. It's extremely difficult though
