1st time competitor here, on a budget, how blinged out should a suit be? Do they really judge you on a super sparkly suit? I found some beautiful suits on CCfitwear for $200 and just under, but they aren't super stoned, does it really matter?

I think it would depend on the show you're doing. If its just a local/amature show than I dont think it matters at all but I think if you were doing a National level/Pro Qualifier type show than maybe judges would put a little more stock into the suit. In the end, get a suit you can afford and that fits you well...the fit is WAY more important than the bling.

Honestly it doesn't matter. It's more of a personal choice than the judges choice. I've never heard a judge say "you didn't have enough stones". Go for the $200 on CC, she makes good suits.

Honestly best thing to do is to get the lay of the land. Check out photos on the internet of last year's competition. Photos of most competitions are posted and they will give you a better sense of the venue where you will compete, the lighting, and a host of other things including the style, colors, etc. of your competitors (also the typical builds of those in your class - of course remember that the standards for figure aren't all that firm and are in flux/changing - ideas for hair styles, makeup, whether jewelry is appropriate, shoe styles, etc.)

You may also be able to find out who the most popular suit makers are for your comp.

You'd be better off getting a low end suit amd king sure you want to stick with the sport first. You can always buy your own crystals and add them yourself for alot cheaper....and it is very easy to do. Best of luck to you.

Yes, you need some bling. If I didn't listen to that advice I'd have been the ONLY one on the stage w/out bead work on my suit. Check Jagware online. That's where I purchased mine.

Focus more on the right color and cut of the suit to fit your physique. You def want some bling, but you don't need a ton. I've actually heard numerous judges say that too much bling can become distracting onstage. It makes it harder to focus on the physique itself.

Good luck with your show!

excellent advice. Cut and color #1.. stoning #2. YES- you need stones.. but you don't have to go over the top. Esp for a local/1st show! Best of luck to you! CC does my suits too, so you can't go wrong with her! =)

Thanks ladies! I chose Elitestage wear. Amy is designing a magnificent suit w/o costing me an arm and a leg. dark crushed glitter velvet with crystaled straps and nice stone work. I gemy suit this week and am very excited. She alo has made my top nicly padded to make me look like a perfect B. I sadly was not blessed with a chest. Ah well. Been told by many that all shades of pink look fantastic with my hair and skin tone. Will post picks as soon as I get my suit.

thanks for all the wondeful advice! I'm sure more Q's will be coming soon. I'm 9 weeks out and this is my 1st!!!!!
