I was doing some incline bench press last week on the Smith machine and everything was fine until I got home and my left shoulder started hurting. It doesn't hurt at rest only when I try to do certain movements. Particularly reverse flyes. Like if I were standing straight doing flyes on the cables, just the reverse motion of that. So I'm guessing its my rear delt. Its not a bad pain its just uncomfortable and I won't be able to do shoulders this week and possibly next.

I saw the broomstick exercse to stretch your RC, will that help? Any other advice?

Thanks.

could you describe exactly where the pain is? what kinda pain is it...constant dull ache, sharp shooting, stabbing, burning?

Its in the middle to rear deltoid. I guess its a sharp pain but its not excruciating. Its just enough that I know I won't be able to lift much weight with it, without injuring it further.

hmm pain at the rear could mean either Teres Major or Minor or possibly something going on with Infraspinatous.

A gd thing to try with those RC problems is internal rotations on a cable machine.
Grab a D-handle on a cable machine, lock your arm with elbow bent to 90, and internally rotate your arm across your body. do this light weight 3sets 15 reps

give that ago see if it helps, it wont easy the pain straight away but week by week it should improve till its gone. if it aggrevates ur pain stop.
