Fricken hamstring pulled again when I was deadlifting. I love how 135x10 felt good, 225x8 felt really good, so I bumped to 315 for working sets of 5. I had full ROM back in my leg going into today and at the time, still felt like I was going pretty light b/c 315 is usually my second warm-up set. First two reps feel good, then half way up on the 3rd one my hamstring pops out of fricken nowhere. I should have gone lighter, but the weight and my hamstring were feeling good so I pushed it. I am a freaking moron. Only saving grace is that it doesn't feel as bad as last time.
I am taking the next week off from doing anything. Gonna let my hamstring and shoulder rest up. Probably wont be doing anything direct hamstring related for at least 2-3 weeks. I am just praying that I will be able to squat after a week off like I was able to the first time I pulled it. When I do go back I am going light as hell to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Thanks guys. I should have tried to get back into it slower than I did the first time around. I guess this is what I get for being stubborn and impatient.
It seems like every other time I have done this, I have been back by now and haven't re-injured it, but I won't make the same mistake twice.

Just talked to my trainer. Told me to still hit up upper body, do cardio on the bike w/ minimal resistance, and hit up the steam room after. Seems to think I will be back in a week or 2. I am just hoping I will be able to squat again after a week, then slowly get back into deads after 2.
I will do upper tomorrow. My shoulder is still a bit sore, but a lot better than it was. I am going to go lighter weight w/ more reps and incorporate a lot of pulling movements to hopefully strengthen it up.

Thanks man. I am going to be taking it a good bit easier on it this time around. Thankfully it doesn't feel any worse than it did the first time I pulled it, so I figure I am like 2 weeks behind on recovery from where I was now. So hopefully in 2 weeks, I will be back to where I was with pretty much full ROM and no pain squatting. I will just be taking it very slowly on the direct hammy stuff.

Now that I got your attention :D, how many people (other PI Loggers) would be interested in participating in a strength contest. Contest would be inrease in strength on certain exercises over a pre-determined period of time while using PI. Videos would need to be provided for initial and final maxes to make sure it it legit. Also, initial max would be cross referenced with past posts to make sure submaximal loads were not being used during first max to keep everything fair and legit. Also body weight will be factored into maxes so the smaller guys would not be at a disadvantage. Winners will receive prizes.
All I can really say right now is that the prizes will be a heck of a lot better than my eternal freindship and my weak greenz.
Need to know how many are interested to see if there is enough interest to get this contest up an running.
If interested, reply here or shoot me a pm. Contest would be open to PI loggers only

Hmmm yeah I was thinking about doing a contest with either strength and/or gains as well, but a lot of the loggers didn't know how it would be judged. I guess an increase in strength would work....what exercises are you thinking?

Most likely the big 3. That would probably be the easiest. But nothing is set in stone yet.
Would need at least 15 of the 25 loggers to compete to make it work. Spread the word if you can man. The more people we can get interested in this the more likely it will actually happen.
In high school, we did something called an index for our lifts. So it was the big 3 combined then divided by your bw. Possibly do it that way with the vids to prove they did it. Again nothing set in stone, just throwing out ideas.

I don't have the new Iphone so it doesn't record video :mad: I know some people with cams, but they are all home for the summer......FFFUUUUU

edit: which lifts are we lookin at competing in?.. obviously I'm down for Skwatz, Bench and Deadlift.. lol... i'd go for push press, military press, front squat, zercher squat, good mornings or incline bench, since I have some fairly recent numbers for all of those as well

That was just an idea for the promo Dracoy is running. I am pretty sure it is just for the PI loggers man. I'm sorry bud, but once I get 100% again I would be glad to compete with you in something similar while we are at school.

Idk man, the increase in lifts is going to be tough because you would have to take a video of it. I like it too, but think it might limit the amount of people who can enter it b/c of the video aspect.

Exactly BW is factored in.. so what Bench is one of my strengths and I can almost hit 2x my bodyweight in bench, who cares? Nobody..

i forgot about the intensity part lol just realized that was the whole point of the promotion...i was thinking of it based on strictly lifts.

Exactly. The contest isn't who can lift the most, it is who can increase their lifts the most.
We would take your initial maxes and use your bw to get an "index" number. Then do the same thing at the end and compare your initial and final "indexes". So weight really doesn't matter since you aren't competing directly with other people in the lifts but more like competing w/ yourself.
Does that make sense??
Also, this was just my initial idea for it. It is not like this is a for sure thing that is going to happen.

Thoughts:
Had a ton of energy today and endurance was crazy. Was getting a really good pump in my back today on every exercise I did, and felt like I was pulling a decent amount of weight for the rep range I was trying to stay in and the period of rest I was taking between sets.
Today took a bit longer overall b/c I went to the gym later than normal (was more crowded) so I could lift with one of my old friends from H.S., but overall I was feeling really good today.
My hammy hurts, but it is definitely not as bad as it was the first time I did it. I am hoping if I keep up with my icing, stretching, and foamrolling I will be at least back squatting in a week, and back to lightly deadlift in 2-3.
Was the PI juicy, too? And I like the you go, I go approach on the pull-ups

Yeah, the rotating out w/ a partner is killer. Especially since I could do more reps than he could. The most he got was 8 then it immediately dropped to like 3, so I was doing a set like every 15-20 seconds. Got a crazy pump in my lats though, so it is all good :)

When I first got my hammie injury, it worked bloody awesome.
When I had the SIJ thinger, and had a lot of work done on my multifidus - didn't help out much

I don't know if I can do that right now. Besides, by the time I find a place that can do it and schedule an appointment I will probably be very close to recovered anyways. I can always just massage my hammy myself to help break up the scar tissue :D

Thoughts:
Holy crap, my strength was through the roof today. Everything on BB Bench felt extremely light. I am very happy w/ my new bench PR, my old was 275x1.
I did a lot of higher rep warm-up sets today b/c I wanted to make sure that my left shoulder was loose and ready to go for the heavier weight. I had no pain in it whatsoever throughout the entire workout, so I think I am back to 100% with it. :)
Endurance was also very good today. Me and my buddy I was lifting with were flying through the sets. We did some stuff today that my partner hadn't done before so I had to take some time to show him proper form, but other than that we went through the workout very fast.
I am kinda liking the higher volume that I have been doing since I hurt my leg. I plan on keeping this up until I can get back into my normal workout w/ squats and deads.
Hammy is feeling about 60% today. Still pretty tight, but I can get down and back up from a just below parallel bw squat w/o any pain. Hoping to keep stretching it out over the next couple of days so I might be able to hit up some squats on Monday. Still going to be a while b4 I try to deadlift again though.

Hand ending sucked, but it was actually a good cardio alternative b/c it wore me out and didn't put any stress/strain on my hamstring. Had to cut my neighbors yard b/c they are trying to sell their house and they are letting their yard go to crap. Ended up cutting over an ant pile and not noticing it. Got like 10-15 ant bites on my feel. The itching is starting to get annoying. lol.
I am going to attempt to squat tomorrow. Haven't had any problems w/ my hamstring so far today. Still is sore if I try to massage it too hard to help break up some of the scar tissue and is still fairly tight, but it doesn't seem to interfere with my squat mechanics. Since it has been about a week since I have squatted last, i will try to get a vid to check form and make sure I am still good. Will also try to vid at least 1 set of each workout from now on.

First off, I finally felt da tinglez!!!!!! I am usually a non-responder to BA, but every once in a while I will feel it and today was one of those days. IDK why, but I really like it. lulz.
Endurance was good today. After squats, it felt like I was moving pretty good and felt pretty much fully recovered each set. Squats took a bit longer than usual b/c I was trying to take it easy on my leg and stretch out in b/t sets, but I am happy to report that there was no pain today at all while actually squatting.
The bar warm-up I mentioned earlier was something we used to do back in H.S. Basically is sorta like the bear where you move from one exercise directly into the next but you do each movement for 5 reps before moving on. The order is Hang Clean, Power Clean, Military, Back Squat, Front Squat, Upright Row, SLDL.
Also got told today by a trainer that I can no longer bring my workout bag that I keep my belt, dip belt, log, and 2 L of PI in. He told me that it is against policy b/c people can steal weights. I txted my trainer and he told me they started to enforce it b/c 3 people got shot at a gym in PA and the guy hid the gun in his bag. I am all for safety, but they allow you to take a bag and store it in the locker room downstairs, just not upstairs in the weight area. If someone is going to bring in a gun, they can still hide it up to the locker room then shoot up all the people that are in there. The weight stealing thing doesn't really make that much sense to me either b/c I would think it would be pretty obvious if someone was doing that. My logic is, if someone is going to do something like shoot up a gym, they are going to find some way to do it. If they outlaw gym bags, they need to outlaw pants w/ pockets and baggy t-shirts where you could hide a weapon in/under. But w/e, I have 1 more workout there and then I am back at my gym at school where I can use a bag if I want. /end rant

I am all for safety, but they allow you to take a bag and store it in the locker room downstairs, just not upstairs in the weight area. If someone is going to bring in a gun, they can still hide it up to the locker room then shoot up all the people that are in there. Thoughts:
First off, I finally felt da tinglez!!!!!! I am usually a non-responder to BA, but every once in a while I will feel it and today was one of those days. IDK why, but I really like it. lulz.
Endurance was good today. After squats, it felt like I was moving pretty good and felt pretty much fully recovered each set. Squats took a bit longer than usual b/c I was trying to take it easy on my leg and stretch out in b/t sets, but I am happy to report that there was no pain today at all while actually squatting.
The bar warm-up I mentioned earlier was something we used to do back in H.S. Basically is sorta like the bear where you move from one exercise directly into the next but you do each movement for 5 reps before moving on. The order is Hang Clean, Power Clean, Military, Back Squat, Front Squat, Upright Row, SLDL.
Also got told today by a trainer that I can no longer bring my workout bag that I keep my belt, dip belt, log, and 2 L of PI in. He told me that it is against policy b/c people can steal weights. I txted my trainer and he told me they started to enforce it b/c 3 people got shot at a gym in PA and the guy hid the gun in his bag. Don't know what the deal was last night, but I could not get to sleep for some reason. Ended up finally falling asleep around 3, and had to wake up around 6. I am hoping that this will help get me in the groove for next week since I have 8 A.M.'s every day this semester.

All in all today was a slightly above average day just for the fact that I did some hammy stuff without it really hurting at all. Felt kinda like a nub deadlifting 135 for my working sets, but hey I got to start back somewhere.
185 on close-grip went up really easy. Will probably be bumping up to 205 next week when I do these 4x4.
Was not able to get a video today b/c I had to store my gym bad behind the trainers desk b/c they wouldn't let me carry it around in the gym. My cell was in there and I didn't feel like going over there and mess with having to get it. That and there wasn't anything really special to videotape today anyways.
At the very end of my workout, I did go get my phone and got a short video of me trying to show Illilian how I do pec dec to target my chest instead of it hitting front delt so much, but you couldn't really tell anything from the vid, so I won't be posting it.

Not gonna lie, I felt like absolute crap today working out. Just didn't have the fire and intensity I usually do. Thankfully I was able to still get up the weight I had planned out on using, it just felt a lot heavier than it usual does.
Left Hammy is pretty tight today. I took a while making sure that it was as loose as I could get it before I started lifting today. Both my hammies are kinda sore, but not terrible. I really just wish my left one would heal all the way up so it will stop bugging me.
I am going to be giving my workout partner a scoop of InTrain tomorrow. He has no idea what the taste is or what it does. I will get a vid of the initial taste test, and then one at the end for a review of if he felt any different from taking it.

I don't know why I am having so much trouble getting my cals in since I got down to school. I am eating like the exact same way, but I am coming up a couple of hundred short like every day. I must be forgetting to eat something, I just can't think of what it is. :(

Thoughts:
First day of classes today. Got them out of the way and had a really good workout. Good news on the hammy, no pain while I was deadlifting an form felt pretty good overall. I am slowly but surely getting back to where I was before "the incident".
Everything went up really easy today. Endurance and strength were definitely up. I did feel a little flush today in my cheeks, but only for about a minute.
I am like scrambling to get my books for my classes. I have assigned reading due by Wed. but I am not going to be getting my books till next week b/c I bought them online to save cash. Will have to figure something out.

Might as well do a bit of extra work to get the full ROM from the exercise.
Same with barbell rows. Start from the ground, get the full ROM. If you want to start from a hanging position, try yates row or something like that.

I really think I am almost back 100% with my hammy. Felt really good today lifting. 340 went up pretty easy for the most part. I did hit the pins on the rack my second set b/c I didn't walk out far enough, but I was able to adjust next set and was fine.
I worked on having the bar lower on my traps today. I think I like it better, but my shoulders will have to get used to it b/c my left one felt sore after I was done. Weight felt like it went up easy. I got a little too excited for my first set and went down kinda fast, but I was going pretty deep, so I will let it slide :p. I fixed it for the rest of the sets. I am still working on keeping my wrists firm, but I will take it one thing at a time for now.
Been a crazy hectic day. I only have one class tomorrow and plan on maybe doing some light cardio. I will keep you guys updated.

I am really happy that I decided to get some sleep. Everything made sense in class today and I feel a ton better than I have lately.
Groin is still a bit sore today, but I am not really doing anything today that should aggrevate it. Going to lift at 12, will update when I get back.

Got a really good pump today. Energy wasn't the greatest, but my strength and endurance were there. It was just one of those days you have to push yourself through.
My parents came down today and brought my TV from back at home. I have it set up at the foot of my bed right behind my desk. I am not gonna lie, it is pretty baller. :D
I am sore in my hamstrings and my erectors and bi's today. Thankfully, the soreness in my hammies is the good kind of sore and not the hurt/tight kind of sore that I have been feeling. Should be gone by tomorrow I would think.
Did a little posing tonight after lifting and noticed that I looked a lot fuller than I have been lately. I don't know if this is due to the InTrain or what, but I am not complaining about it. lol.
Also, my upper body strength seems to be increasing everytime I hit it. Today I hit a PR w/ 90's on DB Bench, and I had just benched the day before somy chest was probably slightly fatigued. I hope I can keep this up and hit some PR's w/ my lower body starting Monday when I hit up 5x3!

Thoughts:
Today was so hard. I had to rest for like forever in b/t sets for some reason. It took me like half way through deadlifts to get into the zone today.
The good news is that I was not sore at all today. However, I can feel that I am already starting to get sore from my workout in my bi's and my quads.
Deadlift form felt decent today. I had no pain in my hamstring at all, so I guess that is all I can really ask for right now.
I have an 8 am class tomorrow, so I will update my diet for today sometime tomorrow. I really need to go to sleep, so I am going to keep this fairly short.
