View Full Version : Squat groin pain

Hi,

I'm pretty new to weightlifting, so I'm not lifting particularly heavy. Following the Rippetoe program.

When squatting I sometimes get a painful pull in the inside of my groin on the right handside. I took a few days off and didn't increase the weight tonight when I lifted. It seemed less of an issue, but when I did deadlift afterwards, I could feel the pain again.

What would be best? I'm thinking it's maybe just that the muscles in there aren't strong enough yet. Should I keep the weight the same and let those muscles strengthen before increasing weight again?

I'm just worried that if I keep increasing the weight it's going to get worse and I'll keep missing training because of it, and not actually solve the problem.

Any ideas would be great!

EDIT* I just found a similar post on here with someone suggesting a hernia?! I'm pretty sure it's an adductor issue if that helps?
