I started my Journey just before last Xmas, so I am nearing 8 months in. I thought I would give this journaling a try. Maybe it will be a nice way to help myself focus for the next 7 months to get down to my final 'after' body. My focus and my pushing of myself has been slowing lately. The naughty foods are sneaking in more and more and the excercise has been slowing down :(. Summer just seems harder, there are so many distractions and time sinks. All the parties hit at once, weddings, graduations, summer picnics, family reunions. Everyone comes out of the woodwork and wants social time when the temperatures go above freezing.

History: Down 47 about 37.5 more to go. I am guessing my final weight being lean and strong will be about 170 lb.

Progress pics and measurements were updated for the start of this yesterday 7/18.

Goals: I don't want to be skinny fat and then gain back all the weight in 3 months. My goal is to have nice strong muscles all over, hopefully with a 32" or less waist. Also, I want to find the joy in excercise and eating right so that I can keep this up for a lifetime.

Day 1 yesterday 7/18:
Wake 7:30 am

Morning snack
4 oz skim milk
5 pieces mixed nuts

Breakfast
3 eggs cooked in olive oil
2 slices Eziekel toasted
8 oz coffee
8 oz skim milk

Work out
Chest, shoulder, back, legs (60 minutes)
I went really light on the Chest and shoulder weights and just went really really slow like a 30+ second count on the way down. This is due to my shoulder injury. The knife like pain jumped in last week during my shoulder work out, so I am working around it until it is fully gone. I read about the going really slow to work around injuries, and not just completely skipping the work out while healing up, on one of the BBrs blogs months ago. I can't remember who, but he was really really ripped at about age 50 or 60.

Lunch
Chili bowl with extra onion and a slice of whole grain bread. 1 tsp butter

Then I went to the new Harry Potter movie. I got some extra mini cardio here *kidding*. I was so bored I was swinging my legs, tapping my feet, climbing all over my chair trying to get comfy and not fall asleep... I used to love Harry Potter movies, but this one totally bored me. I also resisted the popcorn, with some help. I said I was going to resist, then 20 minutes into the movie I broke, probably from boredom. Problem is I did not want to carry a purse so all the cash was in my husbands pocket. He would not give it up though, he said I had a plan and he was going to help me stick to it. It was good he remembered

Snack
10 pieces mixed nuts

Dinner
Fresh cherries, salad mix (chopped cucumber, onion, avacado, black beans, navy beans, olive oil, seasonings, cottage cheese) 2 squares of 86% cocoa dark chocolate

Calorie estimate: ate 1800-2100 , calories burned 2300-2600

HI! I like your goals. They sound very realistic. And kudos for losing all that weight already! this journaling section is such an awesome way to keep focused, I love it.

As far as your calorie guesstimates.. I would go into sparkpeople.com and actually log them. Your food yesterday seems a lot higher than 1600 cals, although its all healthy, things like beans, eggs and olive oil all add up. Its a tough reality check but it does help you keep on track! back when I was "guessing" i was actually eating way above maintenance every day!

good luck!

Thanks for stopping by BuffedStuff and your good wishes :). I shall need all I can get!

Hi there Lily_julia thanks for the tip on sparklepeople.com. I shall have to check that out. I go to fitday.com every few weeks to check if I am on track with my guessing, but it takes so much time. I put in apple and I get a bunch of pages of choices to swim through. Hopefully sparklepeople might be faster.

So some people have taken up a new hobby. As I walk past going about my normal business people have taken to exclaiming 'skinny!' at me as they pass by. I had just been saying thanks and blushing as I continue on as well, but it has been making me uncomfortable. I feel like a fake, as this is totally not a true statement. So, today I stopped one of them to say what the heck. I am a size 16, geez, anything but skinny. They were shocked and did not believe me... Ok my turn, what the heck? I am not taking my pants down to show my size 16 tag thats is on the inside band, so I guess I just go back to saying thanks.

Your diet doesn't seem too bad, but I don't think you're getting enough protein and too many fruits.
I'd suggest having at least 1 - 2 chicken breasts a day, can of tuna, lean filet of salmon etc... and use as little amount of oil as possible while you're trying to lose weight. Cutting the Olive Oil; very small amounts are okay; and cutting the nuts and you will see much more improvements. I did that, and I am now losing 2lbs a week as opposed to 6lbs in 3 months. Use more spices and Pam spray to coat the pan if need be.

If you want to build muscle, eat lots of protein and more veggies. Have between 1 - 2 fruits a day, since they are quite high in sugar. Try protein shakes before or after workouts. Just that sort of stuff :)
I hope that helps, and I hope I didn't come off too forward :/

Hi punxnotdead309, thanks for stopping by. Your right I have gone up on the fruit lately and let the protien and veggies slide. I pushed to add back in more protien today, and I need to fix the veggie shortage tomorrow. I hope I upped it enough. I don't know that I am ready to give up the nuts though, the fat girl in me is resisting that one for now :). Don't worry about being forward, any help is good help!

Wake 5:15
Morning snack
4 oz skim milk

Breakfast
2 eggs in olive oil + 1.25 slices Eziekel bread

Snack
Small handfull of nuts and about 8 5g fiber per serving crackers + 1 box of 2% milk (odd thing I noticed: 2% milk seems to have more protien than skim milk does. Like 13g, vs 20g. Oh well, I prefer skim, I just had no choice at the time).

Lunch
Spagetti (again) with cottage cheese(again) 1/2c total about.

Mini work out
10 minutes cardio Elliptical

Afternoon snack
Small hand full of nuts

Work out
10 minute warm up Elliptical
40 to 50 minutes of legs/abs/calves
10 minutes cool down/stretching

Dinner 1 scoop protien powder in 8 oz skim milk.

after dinnner snack
2 squares of 85% dark chocolate + a 1 serving packet of tuna

Calories estimate : ate 1300 to 1600, burned 2100 to 2400.

Other notes for the day: This week some people have been giving off vibes that they are sitting on a powder keg, and today one of the people exploded. Their episode totally threw me off for the whole day. The cortisol was flying from about 9 am until my 4 pm work out. That calmed me right down, I was 100% mello after the work out. What a bummer, I have read that cortisol is a truly evil thing when trying to lose weight, but what can a person do.
