Intense Pain in Calf

Occasionally, when I crouch down to do my shoelace up or pick up something from the floor, whichever leg I use to push myself back up to standing I get an intense pain in the calf of that leg, and a dull ache in my other calf.

Any ideas what causes this and how I could fix it?
