Okay here's the deal. I wanted to post in here because people in this section actually seem to have a decent grasp on the subject of nutrition. I can't find anything about this in any of my books or studies, but would like to know if you guys have an idea what is going on in my body right now.

In April-May I dieted hard and got down to 170, and I was eating maybe 2200 calories a day just to stay at 170. I gradually increased my calories because my workouts have become much more intense. I warm up on the bike for 10 minutes, stretch, then do a half hour workout with 45 sec rest periods in between sets. I keep the sets at 8-15 reps and do 18-20 set workouts. I will then get on the elliptical or treadmill and go for 40 mins- 1 hour. I have been eating steadily at 2900 calories (3200 - 300 cals in fiber). I have eaten very clean. I get 3-4 servings from each section of the food pyramid daily (with the exception of sweets... ideally once a week but sometimes I crack so I would say more like every 5-6 days I have some ice cream).

My weight has gone from 170 to 178 over about 5-6 weeks. My question is, was I just way under my Pre-Set Bodyweight? I have gained a very minimal amount of fat, so did I just lean bulk without meaning to? or is my body just rebuilding structures, enzymes, cell walls, ect to bring all my systems back to full operating capacity?

Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!

dont forget that you were dieting which means depleted glycogen stores.

now that your back into a caloric surplus your filling those stores back up! probably around half of the weight you have gained is just your muscles filling up with glycogen.

keep up the good work though man, seems like your hard work is paying off.
