Please excuse the "run up" to the bar. The lift did not feel too heavy and I would REALLY like to get 465 by the end of the summer. I was wondering if you guys noticed any part of the lift that was weak that I should work on. thank you.

Looked pretty good to me. I dont know as much as some of the oter guys around here, but IMO, looked to me like you should work on your explosivness of the floor a little more, whats they heaviest you can go without straps?

thanks for the reply. I have never tried more than 355 without straps. The main reason is I like to do a double overhand grip (for safety and symmetry) and my grip is weaker with a DO as opposed to an over/under grip. Also I usually do sets of deadlifts in the 5 rep range, but just recently started trying to do heavy singles. I dont mind using straps though, I dont think grip strength is too important for my goals and forearm development is good for me as I train forearms separately. Also my forearms measure 14" and my biceps 16" so I prefer to use straps.
As for explosiveness, is there anything I can do to actively recruit more fast-twitch muscle fibers? Do powerlifters do speed sets with less weight so as to increase their explosiveness?

I'm not to sure hopefully a seasoned PL can pitch in here. But i'd have a go at doing deficets for a while, which should help your strength off the floor more to hit your goal.

Looks good......do some speed reps at 70 % RM for singles after heavy DL work or 3-4 days after the heavy DL workout.
