Let's say you do a 30-45 min cardio session at night like 9:00pm, do you eat afterwards or consume a protein shake, or just disregard food?

Why wouldn't you eat afterward?

I normally do my night cardio sessions after my last whole food meal and will have a shake after the cardio. I don't like having a whole food meal after doing that last cardio session unless your going to bed at midnight or something.

So for example

I get home at 6:30, eat chicken + vegetables at 7:30...digest a bit then watch Master Chef Australia, then have a discussion about the show with my girlfriend ( normally involving conversation along the lines of 'if only we weren't dieting I'd try and make that chocolate fondu right now' ) walk at 8:15 back at 9:00pm, my stomach will feel empty by then and I'll start to get really lethargic then at 9:30 Isolate, Ice Cubes and sometimes some blue berries drink it down then in bed by 10pm

Hope this helps in some way...I don't know how :)
