so i was standing BB shoulder presses today. last set i was using moderate weight, getting about 8 reps. Brought the weight down from the last rep and noticed alot of pain in the base of my neck/trapezius/between shoulder blades area. Never felt anything like it :( its about 6-7 hours later now and my neck is pretty stiff, is more comfortable if i keep my head tilted forward, side to side kinda hurts as does looking at the ceiling. ANY COMMENTS OR ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! i dont know if i pinched a nerve or compresses something or strained something, im pretty nervous since the neck area is some serious buisness :(

i just put up a new thread..your injury sounds like mine. if i keep my head down or straight or even side to side, i have no pain but if i arch my back and lift my head up i get a pain on my left lower trap. i thought it was muscular but realized when my injured side was MUCH WEAKER then my other..i knew it was a never problem. i'll be posting updates on my thread. my wife works for chiropractors and im going to have them look me over good.

I've had the same thing happen to me. It felt ok at the gym, but on the way home it started getting worse and worse until I was in much pain. Lots of stiffness in the neck and traps/middle back.
I had a massage that night which helped but of course the pain came back shortly after.
Took about a week for it to heal.
Hope that helps.

thanks for the replies guys. woke up this morning and my neck is pretty sore/stiff. i think what happened is when i brought the weight down from the overhead press, i rolled my shoulders forward and dropped them too much..the weight was practcally on my upper chest (not on top of front delts) which strained the neck muscles. there was no weight like crashing down on my neck area so i dont think compression or something serious involving the spine happened. Gonna give it another day or two and hopefully it starts feeling better.
