Today (Friday, April 8, 2003)
Bench Press
Set 1: 180 lbs plus 30 lbs of chain (200 lbs) 2 X 5

Explosive Barbell Shrugs: 335 lbs 3 X 8
Good workout i think. Went for over an hous cause i was taking my sweet time. Shrugs were awesome, went up 5 reps with the 70's.

looks good how long have you been lifting and what are your goals
PainThriller
04-20-2003, 11:39 PM
Thanks man. I have been lifting for about 6 years total, 5 of them not realy having a set routine like i do now. My goals are just to be strong and maybe if i decide to do some heavy squats again, do a couple comps and hopefully win. My one long shot goal in lifting is to bench 500, clean and no drugs and still be the same size. I don't care if my muscles are pretty and cut, i just wanna be one strong mother****er that nobody ****s with :).

Do you know why your knees lockout after heavy squats?

Yes i do, most of the cartilage in my knees are worn out. I used to do heavy squats all the time even at the age of 13 if you can believe that. That is what probably did it because at that age, i don't think your body is ready for that kind of work yet.

Wow, I didn't even know. Maybe one day you'll go back to heavy squats. I hope I can too.

Eh, i don't know. I myself am not realy a fan of the squat in general. I just want to keep my legs strong enough so i can lift heavy things. I don't need to be squatting 600 or 700 for that matter. If i get back up to 390 or 410 ill be happy, but other than that squatting isn't my main concern, and it never was. Looking at pics and vids of all these injuries that have happened to heavy squatters, and espicially the pic of that dudes butthole literally turning inside out, i say **** that.

So, I see what you're saying about the squat. I think that's a very respectable opinion you have. But, what about deadlifting?

I don't have a fear of deadlifting, i love deadlifting the most out of all the 3 lifts. 475 baby, thats my max on the dead. They don't hurt my knees too bad either. I have decided one thing about heavy squats, and me solution is heavy box squats. I maxed out with a 545 box squat today in my fitness class, i figure these will keep my legs nice and stong.

Wow, very nice job on that 545 box squat. Alright, so i see what you're saying. Keep up the training!

Clean and Jerk: 3X3 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 200 X 1, 205 X 1, 210 X 0. It's been a while since i have done these before, and i seem to have lost my ability to use my bottom half to it's fullest. My form is off, but i just have to work it down a bit more. Front squats tommorow, i love this lift.
Jerks: 190 X 3, 200 X 3
Dumbell Militaries: 70's X 10, 1 set

Tuesday:
Front Squats: 140 3 X 15
Leg Extensions: 150 3 X 12
Thats all i did on Tuesday. Heres today, i did my school Bigger, Faster, Stronger program.
BFS Bench: 3 X 3
Warmup: 140 X 5, 230 X 1
For sets: 240 X 3, 260 X 3, 270 X 3
This was in fitness today, people were looking at me as if i was some kind of superhumen. I told them that was noting compared to what i used to use when i was heavier. Their jaws almost hit the floor. Plus i go insane in fitness, i scream and yell, not to mention i call everyone in my class a bunch of pansies :D. My football coach loves my intensity.
Incline Dumbells: 75's X 10, 80's X 8, 85's X 6, 90's X 4 PR
Getting realy strong on these incline dumbells, im trying to beat my football coach who does the 90's for 15 on incline. He's 40 years old, and is incredibly strong and in great shape for his age. Great guy, and he knows his ****. He's making me curb my cursing by making me do wallsits everytime i curse. Those damn things hurt.
Closegrips plus 30 pounds of chain: 140 plus chain 5 X 10
I now weigh 180 pounds, been on ephedrine for about 2 weeks now dropping weight rapidly. Im not using that **** anymore cause i have heard too many stories about it. Felt good and strong today, feel stronger than when i was heavier.

Ur doing pretty good urself there too man, thanks for your compliments. I want to get down to about 170, cause the football coach is holding a school powerlifting compettition at the end of the year. If i go as light as i can i know i will kill everybody else in my weight class, and i still beat lifters in my school who are heavier than me.

Another friend, 315 on the squat to 395 in 3 weeks time. This program is abosoloutly amazing. It got me to my 255 powerclean, in a month.

Thanks Steel, this program is very new and you have to switch things up once and a while in this sport to keep making gains. The BFS program gets great reviews, and i see all these football players making these huge jumps in short periods of time. I think benching, deadlift, squatting and powercleaning once a week to be very helpful.

Don't be doubtful, you will fail if you are being that way. Try wrestler bridges to improve your arch. I do them alomost everyday, and my arch keeps getting better. Do them up until the max day, that should set you on the right path.

Thanks bro. My injury is doin great now. I'm pretty much healed and have started light lifting again. I benched 195x1 and squatted 135x4(not too hard, and did 3 sets) on tuesday and back is still holding up.

Today: Went for a bench record
Today absoloutly sucked, and i didn't even beat my old record of 295 on the bench board. A real depressing day for me indeed. I flipped out and kicked the balance board and smashed the clips on the weightroom floor. I can't handle days like this, i don't even know what i did wrong that made me screw up today. Maybe it's the fact that my dad went under the knife again today and i just kept thinking about it, but i don't realy believe in the whole mental excuse too much. Im not going to make excuses, this was a learning expierence and not only did i learn not to do too much on off days, but to not smash clips on the floor cause it could hit someone in the head. This better not happen again cause if it does, someone is going to feel my rage.

Hello all, I am finally back online after the most recent computer crash i got. I got around to getting it fixed this week, took me about a month. I have ran into a list of problems this past month with family issues and what not, and yesterday i suffered a torn maniskis in my leg next to my knee. It is my right knee, and i have been having trouble with it for 3 years. I found out that it was a double injury, which might have stemmed from last year when i was in football camp cause i had the same pain, and i cause me to quit. It is a pretty bad tear, being as i already had missing cartilage to begin with, now i just tore some. Surgery is a question, and if it is considered then i fear that this is going to affect my strength big time. Good thing i can still work upperbody, but now i can't do my cleans which was 260, and jerkpresses which i hit a 240 PR on thursday. Just thought id keep you guys updated, and boy am i happy im back online.

My name is the name of a wrestling move. It's a sick move where you pick somebody up in a reverse firemans carry, hook your apponents arm and dump them onto their neck. It's the greatest wrestling move of all time.

Yesterday i was told i couldn't lift because i had one good leg and they didn't want me to jepordize anything. They said if i bench press, i wouldn't be able to stabilize myself cause i couldn't move my right leg. Well, i went home, looked at my bench and said **** THAT! Today is my bench training day and im not missing a day on my quest to 350 by the end of next year. So, i took my right leg and placed it on top of the bench so it was elevated, then took my left leg and planted it firmly on the ground, and guess what, GOOD BALANCE! Heres how the workout went.
Thursday: Bench, Triceps and shoulders
Heavy doubles on the bench today, 2 sets each weight.
230 as a warm up.
250 for 2 sets, went down nice and slow, no arc.
260 for 2 sets, slow and no arc.
270 for 2 sets, same movement and no arc.
280 for 2 sets, this was nice and easy surprisingly.
290 for 2 sets, hard and heavy. Felt great.
300 for 2 sets, struggled big time on the second.
Close Grip Bench:
155 X 12, 3 sets
Barbell Skull Crushers
140 X 10, 3 sets
Barbell Militaries:
115 X 15, 3 sets
Then did 230 on the bench to end the workout, did 12 reps.
Yesterday was a great workout and i wasn't feeling to into it either. Was alot harder on the bench cause i couldn't use my other leg to drive into the ground, but i think the workout from yesterday will make me stronger cause i havn't done full ROM in a while, and the burning sensation felt awesome. All sets were flat back, full ROM.

Believe me bro, if i didn't have to go all the way to DE and spend the day there i would have done it way later. Had to go out with my father on a job, he wasn't leaving me home. Was a great workout, and i felt great throughout the day. He made my day too, cause at the end he took me to GNC and let me get a box of Detour bars. They are so good, as a matter of fact im eating one right now, but back on track. If you ever have time, do a workout in the morning, it makes the day go so much smoother bro. The knee should be fine, thanks bro. Hopefully i can deadlift soon cause i don't want it going down. Oh yeah.....

Yesterday i went for a school record of 315. Tried 300 first attempt, and got it then put 3 45's on. It stalled on lockout about half an inch away from it. People were giving me props and told the coach to count it but i said no, i didn't complete the lift. I should have tried 305 to bump my 300 record up 5 pounds, but it was my fault cause i benched on sunday as well.

Dude Poppa all the dudes in my school are women, I OWN ALL THEIR ASSES :). My mistake i own the benchpress. The funny thing is i basically do own a bench in that school because i always steal the best bench in the school when i get there and i dominate it the whole damn time. The coach said, "you can't dominate that bench the whole damn training session", i said "why not, i bench more than everybody else, i desereve the best bench", he then said "can't argue with you there". I let other people on it though :). The best thing though is when everybody crowds around me when im lifting. I swear it's like a famous NFL star just walked in the building and people start crowding around him. It's kinda cool though cause i remember when i use to do that, now people do it around me. I like helping those people too, im glad that i can actually give advice to people now and help them succeed.

Week 1: 3 x 3
Week 2: 5 X 5
Week 3: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Week 4: 3 X 6
Week 5: 10, 8, 6
Week 6: 5 X 1
The damn thing got a friend of mine to a 500 pound squat. He gains 20 pounds every testing session. Our football coach is the man too, he's all about the program. Heres what we do
Monday:
Towl Bench
Box Squat
Powerclean
Wednesday:
Trap Bar(Deadlift)
Jerk Press
Friday:
Bench
Squat
Powerclean
We do a bunch of assistance on those days aswell. Great workouts.

Dude these are the ****. Perfect for Trap Stabilization. What you do is you grab a barbell or an EZ bar, and sit in a seat as you would do dumbell militaries in. You then bring the bar up to your chest, and press strait out in front of you as if your doing a bench press, and hold it for about a second, then bring it back, and repeat, locking your elbows out every rep. You feel it in your traps, triceps, shoulders, and chest. They are great, give em a try.

Your doing excellent, once you hit 2 plates embarassment shouldn't even be a factor. A friend of mine finally benched 2 45's for the first time in his life yesterday for football strength testing, and boy was he happy. He never benched anything over 195, but he finally hit 2 plates and i told him to look for 240 next max. The rest of his lifts are great, he has a 450 squat, now has a 225 bench, and an awesome 465 deadlift. Not to mention he can jerkpress 250 with great ease. Thanks for the compliment man :), i should have been at 400 by now, and i would have if i started powerlifting a year ago. Wait till you see what im going to be putting up by the end of this summer, i can almost guarentee that it's going to be huge.

I know what your saying. I get like that aswell, but in the end i pull myself together and just do it. Hit yourself in the face if you have to, get pissed, and if that doesn't work have somebody do it for you and pretend the weight is the son of a bitch that hit you. Music like i said is also a big influence. Im layed back when im not training, but when the time comes i turn up some heavy, ripping metal, slam my face and get to work. It took some time getting that edge, but it can be attained. Lift angry and focused, youll notice big differences.

Monday, July 7, 2003
5 Board Press
300 X 3
330 X 3
350 X 3
380 X 2 PR!
4 Board Press
295 X 3
315 X 3
330 X 3 PR!
3 Board Press
285 X 3
300 X 3
315 X 3 PR!
2 Board Press
280 X 3
295 X 3
305 X 3 PR
Then i did the 90 lb dumbell presses. Got 8 after all that work. I definitly think i can do those for 10 while im fresh. Got a PR on every set of board press. Im definitly going somewhere in the bench press, and getting 380 X 2 off 5 boards was a great feeling.

Good deal dude. Im sure that program will help you out. Should get you to where you want to be. I have confidence in you, and you should have high hopes as well. Just go in pshyked as hell every workout, and give it hell. Scream, grunt, hit yourself do whatever you gotta do but ALWAYS keep intensity as high as you can, and be confident.

Today im doing 5 sets of heavy tripples on 3 board press. Im going to use my max which is 315. 3 boards is my sticking point which is the halfway point. Im gonna work hard with this today, and get some good tricep and lat work in afterwards.

Nailed all 5 sets of 3 on 3 board press with my max of 315. Then did some Incline DB Press with the 90's. Im so close to 10. Did 8 the first set, and worked from 8, 6, 4, then did 2 very slow. Did some Tate Presses flat bench with 50's, did 1 set of 6. Then did Nider Presses with 70 pounds for 3 sets of 5. Then did T-Bar Rows and worked all the way up to 5 plates for 6.

Just did a speed bench workout of 9 light tripples.
190
210
230
Then i worked my way into speed singles. Hit a PR today.
250(u kidding me?)
280(still, what gives?)
300 PR! (wow, fast as ****!)
300 left the bottom realy quick, lock out took about 1 1/2 seconds to lock out. To think i was maxing that not to long ago. I think my max of 315 has went up again, but i don't know for sure. I tell ya one thing, speed bench was feeling great, and my Inzer knee wraps came today. Did some squats with 300 pounds in the wraps, and it felt good to do some squats again. I felt literally NO pressure on my right knee, and thats a god sent. I have a feeling i might be back to 3 lifts once again sonner than later. As long as this therapy helps, recovery after surgery won't be too bad. Can't wait to start full strength again.

Thanks man, knee still hurts when i move certain ways but it's cool. I think this knee problem will straiten out nice. Thats a very good single to man, your bench is great for your weight and age same with the rest of your lifts. I wish you the same bro with your injury. Great, at least its not too bad. I mean, even tho with a wrap, you did squat 300 for some reps.
And thanks bro. Knee is feelin fine, but still hurt a little. I'm addin 5lbs to my squat every time i do it as rehab, along with hindu squats. Tomorrow I'll be usin 55lbs lol.
Bench has always been a stronger point. If I didnt stop benching in march, I'd be up to 230 by now probably....but who can really tell. My bench has always been within 50lbs of my squat :-/
I hope i do get back to real stuff soon. I feel like I'm a lil lost right now, cuz its been a while. But im guessin in a month or two i'll be somewhere close to real liftin.

Pro-Pain- One Man Army lyrics
"One Man Army
Beat down like a pile of junk
Politically incorrect
We knew he deserved the best But he never got no respect
Six kids and an empty wallet
With a hole the size of a dime
Not a dollar or a dream to boot
He thanks God for a hell of a time
Here lies the middle class
What once was is now past
Our forefathers spent their lives cultivating this ?
One man army born and bred
Never cared much what no one said
Worked all dat till his fingers bled
He was a one man army
One day he bought a shotgun
And went home and sat on the bed
He downed more than a couple of drinks
That put the 's' word in his mouth
So the future is not so bright when everything looks so dim
Then he tought about who he loves
But thought more about who loves him
Too much pain and no gain
Suck the blood from my veins
I work too hard to have you
Take it all away
I see red when you see green
Kill us all when we turn 18
If oppertunity ever knocked
I guess we weren't home"
Get this song, it rocks big time.

Ok used the Inzer Knee Wraps today and did some jerks. Heres how it went.
190 x 3
200 X 3
210 X 3
230 X 1
Had my spotter give me a hand with 230, but i don't think i lost much of any or at all jerk press strength. Then did some flat dumbell presses.
90's X 10
They were easy, and i got 2 more out of what i do on the incline. You figure i bench 315, thats about right for now. Gotta get some 100's in that gym man. Then moveed into some T-Bar Rows.
4 Plates and a 25 3 X 6
All in all i did a good workout today. Jerk Presses were great, those wraps took the pressure right of my right knee. Damn it feels good. I don't think i lost any strength in the squat wither. Id say i can still do around 390-400 hopefully.

Just did some trap, shoulder and bicep work.
Saturday, July 12
Shrugs
95's 3 X 15
70's 3 X 25
Just got these 95 lb db's today. They are one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen.
Upright Rows
80 lbs 3 X 12
Side Lateral Raises
30's 3 X 10
Barbell Curls
80 lbs 4 x 12
Felt good to get some blood pumping to my biceps for a change. Havn't done a bodybuilding style bi workout in a little while. The 95's were a little easy for the shrugs but the last set was killer. That made it tough for the 70's to come next. Great feeling in traps i gotta tell ya, then the upright rows finished them off. Side Raises were tough, hav't done them in a while. Great workout, don't think i over did it either.

Note: Football coach almost screwed me out of my last record at school because he said that my ass almost came off the bench. Those damn benches are so damn low. I said lets put some boards under it to elevate it off the gound an inch or so. He said that next record he's going to have me use a pad under my ass so he doesn't have put boards under it. I guess thats ok, but i know my ass has never come off. It almost has cause their so damn low to the ground. My bench is nice and high at my house, and all the other benches i have used are Forzas ans their way higher off the ground than the one at school. Oh well, if it insures i don't get screwed i don't realy care.

Coaches are pricks. There is a big difference then off and almost off! THe benches at my school are real skinny, and there like a green color. Remind me of something back in the 50's. Strong workout aswell bro. You hustle some good size dumbells there.

He's a cool guy when im not going for a record, but when i do he's like "you can arch, but keep your butt on the bench" which i do at all times but it is a little difficult cause their so damn thin and low to the ground. If it was a Forza or the bench i have at home there wouldn't be a problem. Oh well i did use the pad though a couple times to see what it was like, im glad that it felt exactly the same, and it also made me feel a little better because i now have an "insurance policy" so to speak to ensure that i don't get screwed. My bench is atleast an inch and a half higher off the ground then the ones at school, the Forzas are even higher. Here is a pic of the bench im talking about. All it needs is a board under it and i would be fine.

Thanks bro. Man you just never know, but that would be sweet if he is jealous. He's a cool guy though. I don't realy want to use that pad, but it's still an official lift so i don't care. As long as i break that record before summer ends. I would like him to put some boards under that **** though, it is realy low to the ground. The pad sinks into the bench so it like becomes one with it, kinda cool.

I have been up thinking whether or not if i should go for a 320 bench tommorow, and i think im going to do it. Im realy going to try to tie or break the record in my mind cause if i think that, i think i might even be able to match it or break it with even greater concentration. Im going to use that pad too so it insures that i don't get screwed. Wish me luck cause im going for it all tommorow. Im just sick of looking at that ****ing record, it's gotta go.

Warmed up with 250. Then put 320 on and killed it. I then jumped all the way up to 345 pulling a Scott Mendelson, and got it halfway then it stalled, and i just lost all power in the triceps. I used his stupid pad as well, and it kept me in my groove. I do kind of like using it now, but it just makes me feel kind of odd. Well im happy with the result and there is always next time.

Thanks all for the compliments. I think im going to make 330 my next target, then go for 345-350. Last night i did some assistance work.
95 lb dumbell presses
8 reps
6 reps
4 reps
2 reps
These 95's are heavy. I can't wait to do these for 10.
Floor Presses
190 8 X 6
Close Grip Floor Presses 160 3 X 6
Side Lateral Raises
35 4 X 10
Did that at 3:00 in the morning. Got to get every little helping impliment in. If i plan to kill 350 i have to train the triceps harder. Thats what i realized as i will make wednesday an all speed bench, lat and tricep workout day.

Thanks Steel, 320 i guess is pretty good for an 18 year old. I should be alot higher, but i started a little late i think. Thats a good rack pull for your age and weight. Just give it time bro, your going to make it big in powerlifting, youll see. Yeah the lifting at 3 in the morning is awesome, i think i have insomnia or something cause i just can't sleep. What better to do then lift when you can't sleep? I have big plans for myself in this sport. Just got to get a little stronger and drop some more weight.

Proppy always a pleasure to have you come and stop by my journal :). I know there is always a next time, but it was like Mendy with 900. All i had to do was lock it out. Oh well, ill just train hard for the next month and then go for it again.

Dude lifting at odd hours is the best. All i have is a bench/squatrack at my house with 2 bars, a set of 70 pound and 95 pound dumbells and some roll on dumbells that go up to 35 pounds, but theres so much you can do still with just that. Try creating a gym in your house if you have the room, it's the best place to train.

Hey, its not bad at all man. Not many average people can just bench 320. In 1-2 years i see 400+ a possiblity.
And thanks bro. I really hope I do get somewhere.
Lol id be so weak tryin to lift at 3am. I cant sleep too well either :( I stay up until 3-5am now.
Good luck in the future bro. I can definately see a future spot for you.
