As I have mentioned before, I have lost a substantial amount of weight in a very short time. Now I have that gross extra skin hanging down. Is there anything short of a tummy tuck I can od to get rid of it? I.e. Will it shrink up eventually on its own, can I fill it with muscle? Any answers or personal stories would be greatly appreciated!

I too lost a lot of weight pretty quickly and had a very large amount of gross hanging skin left over. I went from 220lbs after having my baby to 140lbs which is where I am now. It has pretty much all tightened back up now, there is still a tiny bit, but nowhere near what it was before.
Depending on a few factors, such as your age, how much excess skin, and your activity levels, your skin will eventually catch up to your weight loss pretty well if not totally. It just takes time, lots of exercise, a good diet, and plenty and I do mean PLENTY of water.
Also do a lot of ab toning workouts. It will help a bunch. Trust me on this. I thought it was hopeless too. But it's not. Hope I could be of some help. And don't even think about surgery. If you don't need it... don't get it. Everything will workout, if you do..haha.. ok take care!

The loss of excessive skin may take time, and for some the degree of loss is never satisfactory.

The use of a topical diuretic on the trouble areas my bring some aid in "puckering up" the area. Purchase some topical Preperation H (4-8$ tube), and apply twice daily to said areas and see if this does not help.
