first off i'm pojo18. im 14 years old. i'd like to say that these videos were filmed today , my first day back lifting after an 8 day bout with a nast sinus infection and strep throat over the course of which i managed to lose 5.5 lbs =/. down to 169.5 now. i'm currently on madcows 5x5. overall im happy though as i feel that my strength hasnt really decreased too much but the last 2 reps on the second vid were pretty tough=p.

without further adu the first vid

255 x 5 , preceeded by (150 x 5 , 185 x 5 , 220 x 5)

and 290 x 5 , preceeded by (150 x 5 , 185 x 5 , 220 x 5 , 255 x 5)

i realize i need to hit better depth but please if you have any helpful critique or pointers i'd really appreciate it as i hope to compete sometime this summer and could use all the help/tips i could get from more experienced people.

also forgive my ignorance i never learned how to embed videos so reps to anyone who can do that for me=]

Start off from the get go...

1) GET TIGHT! Your not tight at all. While it might not seem to make a lot of difference now, trust me, it will. Tighten up. Squeeze that bar, stomach out into the belt, and keep that ARCH.

2) Get those elbows under the bar. That will help keep your chest up.

3) Sit BACK more. Your sitting down, and moving the bar much further then you need to

4) On the 295 set you didn't hit depth with any of the reps. That IMO is just a waste of a set. Get used to hitting depth, and use a weight that you can handle to learn how to squat correctly.

Technique trumps ego anyday

lower!! i know powerlifters wanto go only as low as they haveto during competition, but I really do feel lthat you haveto break parallel in order to make gains. i only saw one vid idk if you posted more but i think it was the 290 or 295 X5 that you just didnt go low enough for me. when i say parallel i mean the tops of your thighs. I started squatting correctly and my squats gone up 60 lbs.

Edit: strong ass **** for your age, and for anyone even. Imagine if you consistently get depth, youll be squatting the same wweight with the depth in a couple of weeks.

Even on the 255 your depth was a touch high on a couple of the reps. Your definitely not quarter squatting, but you should focus on hitting depth man. Your 14, and pretty strong no need to ego train, the strength is there.

I'd also add that you should stop completely at the top when repping. Stop at the top take a breadth and start the next rep. This is probably also the reason that you are having trouble staying tight.
