I've seen pictures of weight trees/stands that are made of 2x4's layed flat with 2x4's sticking up to separate. Can someone please link me, i've searched for the past day or so.

I wouldnt trust wood for holding all you weight. just buy one in my opinion. My one "branch" of my weight tree holds over 10 45 lb plates. I wouldnt trust that with wood.

With the extra limbs of the tree you could carve up some chains.

Thanks for the pics, that's how I built mine. I don't think I could make that much out of that tree, it's not real.

No, Im just joking around bro.

You can search on the CrossFit forums I recall someone built a holder with some plastic tubing too, I checked for some more pics but couldnt find them.

CrossFit has a "similar post" feature at the bottom and it will link to other home made plate trees or plate holders.
