I need some help with what type of weight training would be best for helping gain an advantage in these two disciplines. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Muscle endurance is much more important than Bodybuilding. Bigger muscles need more oxygen to fuel them, which means you get tired and they kick your butt. Circut training using weights, Plyometrics, sprints, and bodyweight stuff if the best. Try to Create your S&C program time mimic actual round times. An easy way is to pick 5 things and do them for a minute each, rest a minute then repeat rest again and do your last five minute set. In 17 min youll want to die. You can break it up how ever you like as well. Choose 15 things and never do the same thing twice. I also recomend Tabata training that is some crazy sh!t. I also will mix it up every copuple of weeks and do heavy power cleans and deadlifts to keep up my strength. It also depends on how often you are training your stand up and grappling. Hope that helps man.

Actually, it's not me that's training. It's a friend from another forum. He started off with bodybuilding style training, bulked up to around195-200 lbs., and is now training at some muay-thai?brazilian jui-jitsu place. This is the forum, http://www.steelforce-bodybuilding.com/forum/index.php. His handle is usc trojan. You can come there, and give him advice or training if that was your plan.

When you say 15 things, I'm assuming your meaning 15 sport specific training activites right?
