im lookin to convert from wide receiver, to running back next year. i have been hittin the weight room ever since freshman year when i was a measly 93 lbs. now im 136 lbs at the end of my sophomore year. for being so light my upper body is pretty big, but i cannot seem to get my legs any bigger despite my huge strength gains. heres what i got:
squat: 230
leg press:700
deadlift:225

i am a hardgainer, and have a fast metabolism. any tips on how i can gain SIZE in my legs?

thanks

squat as much as you can, eat as much as you can. when i first started squatting, my legs exploded.

i live in central jersey around princeton. i have been squatting alot this past year. is there something that im doing wrong? i do regular back squats. should i do front squats or anything to work my quads more? actually from a frontal view my legs look "decent" but from a side view they look really small.

If your location works I highly recommend seeing Defranco not just for this topic but because it would benefit you in many ways. However if you can't make that happen then stick to heavy squats, deadlifts, db lunges, etc and just eat like a horse.

230>225.
quarter squats make not for strong legs. also, eat more.

you don't leg press 700 lbs, even for one time, and have small legs.

EAT!!! but eat good high calorie high carb high protien foods like peanut butter Chocolate Milk meat lovers pizza those are all fine for u...i was just like you last summer but i started just eating until i would want to throw up then i would eat more also dont make the mistake i made by just eating and lifting and not doing cardio and speed training cause even though i went from 125-150 I gained a gut that has taken me awhile to get rid of my gut....Also leg size isnt as important as having strong legs and just being big all around

Good luck

im gonna recommend more hamstring work. try doing Stiff leg dead lifts they are pretty good for the hamstrings as well. front squats are another good lift for hitting the quads harder.

i actually can leg press 700 for one time even with my small legs. 7 plates on each side plus a 70 lb rack. thats what im saying, that my legs have gotten very strong but not that big at all. ill try puttings stiff legged deadlifts and front squats into my workout. thnx alot guys.

I wouldn't be as worried about how big my legs were vs. what my legs could do (40 yard dash, vertical, overall strength and explosion). If you get too big and wound up you are gonna sacrifice some performance. I wanted big tree trunk legs and got em. However, I think if I would have just focused on what my legs could do and not how big they were, I would have been better off.

focus on squates drop the leg press. you could do a simple program like 5x5 squats followed by lunges finished off with a burnout set of squats. deadlifts are good but more for your back. work on plyos. eat high protein, moderate carb and fat. eat every 2 hours. drink an assload of water everyday. follow those and you should be good for the most part

too bad you probably go down 2-4" on your squat. you dont run a legit 4.3 somone timed your wrong and the distance was incorrect.

^ weight is not the question, find out the depth!

You can get results regardless of the way you train (the ROM)...its all about intensity put on your legs.

At my college for football we do squats parallel with wide legs (like in rippetoes), but a guy Ive been working out with that played in the NFL (practice squads but whatever) swears by partial ROM like with squats going basically halfway down, benching halfway down, etc. (and using really heavy weights with a spotter)...

I do
3x5 Squats (1 time a week parallel, and the other time a week partial and at a very heavy weight).
2x10 double lunges (burns the hell out of the legs)
3x5 Leg press
3x8 superset of leg extensions and leg curls (no stopping entire time)...3 sets on each exercise
And then maybe some random stuff thrown in like calf raises, hip adductors, etc.
