My grandfather was my idol and hero as he served his country during world war II and earned many commendations (bronze stars, purple hearts, and I believe a silver star). He was the bravest and best man I have ever known and he taught me to appreciate what our troops go through for us. Today I wanted to have an extra special work out day and bust out a big PR as I am inspired by the men and women who serve our country. Call me cheesy but I am one of those people who still believes in the USA and am very motivated and inspired by what the men and women who serve our country put on the line each and every day for us. Nothing I do could ever be near as important or nearly as inspirational, but I just wanted to say thanks in my own way.

So join me in thanking our troops by all of us having bad ass workouts today because we are lucky to live in a country where we are free to pursue our dreams and goals.

You did it for the troops? How cheesy! (I kid, I kid)

I've already commented on the vid in the Pr thread, but that was a really nice pull.

i'm alright with a 15 lb PR. Besides I'm in dire need of a deload. I never deloaded after smolov and i've been working around some aches and pains so I want to get 100% healthy so i can go after 675+ at an upcoming IPA meet in indiana

did you do the entire smolov routine? did you modify it at all?

did you find it helped you build alot of mass in your legs? I know legs is one of the harder bodyparts for you to develop

id imagine all that volume would build some mass. im going to take a shot at the entire smolov routine myself aswell soon.

I did all of smolov except the very last week. I was so beat up, I had hip pain, knee pain, lower back pain and I just felt like I was an injury waiting to happen so I cut it short. But it still took me from a 520 squat with wraps to doing 515 for 3 sets of 3. so I was essentially doing my previous max for 3 sets of 3 by the end of the program

i asume the 515x3x3 was still a part of the routine?

if it was....rested up your real 3x3 max could be more like 540x3x3.

Smolov seems interesting and dangerous at same time, I've heard of other people doing it and getting injured also yet some don't and get good gains and many just dont finish it because its too hard. It seems like one of those programs be cool to do once but I wouldn't want to make habit of it but who knows.

Woah! Which PL guy?

Not going to lie, as I was walking near BIF one time, I was crossing a light and passed you. I did a double take, but I was on the other side...

I first noticed a guy wearing an Animal skull cap so I was going to comment on it. Then as I was walking I thought the guy looked familiar, on the other side it clicked.

*yes star struck*

USMC 76 to 82.
USMC Powerlifting Team 79 to 80, 165lb class.
I went in right after they stopped the draft, imagine that!
I came out of boot camp Proud but every one hated the service people and for some reason the Marines more. A lot of bad publicity about Vietnam, and the service men and woman wore that unfortunately at that time.
It is nice to see that the service men and woman of today get better treatment than what me and my service buddies got.

Thank You.

BTW Unbelievable lift hope to see you in IPA Worlds next Year!

My parents told me about those years and about the liberal anti-military bull**** being spewed out there. Fortunately my parents and grandparents taught me to respect our military and especially our veterans. Too many smug SOBs out there today who act like they don't care about our history and how many men and women put their lives on the line so that we could have the freedoms to pursue our goals and dreams like in no other country. I may bitch here and there about the government (especially the policies of late) but there is no where in the world I would rather live.

Thanks for your service.

The brault squad goes M/W/F, Squat/Bench/Deadlift [5:30]
I know some other squads do a M/T/F split.

But usually 5:30 on Friday 90% of the team is there.
