View Full Version : tear apart my squat form

i'm pretty pissed/dissapointed. i've hit 455 in just wraps before and this morning i missed 455 twice in wraps AND with reverse bands. the 2 misses are at the end.

some things I noticed:
1) I unrack the bar like an idiot, I bend my knees then straighten them out to take the bar out. I'm used to unracking it from a high position from the other rack I usually use so I got in the habit of unracking it like that instead of with my hips.
2) I think I need to force my knees out more, they look like they're not getting "out" enough, and even buckling in on the 2nd fail.
3) Need to sit back more. Looks like my knees are coming forward off the box and I'm trying to use too much quad or something.
Any other input would be great, I want to hit 500 on this movement at some point. I haven't handled anything heavier than 365 in 3 1/2 months and I had freakin no power out of the hole with 455. The bands and wraps sprang me up but I could tell that my hips were giving me nothing. That's what I get for trying to do gay bodybuilding ****.
Anyways tear me a new *******, please.
also: sorry for the ****ty angles, and in b4 "you're not strong enough". i'm aware of both lulz

A few things I noticed:
1) Get TIGHT before you unrack that ****ing bar. Your way too lose, and this is putting you in a bad position from the getgo.
2) Try to get a slightly wider stance when you initially unrack it. Then take 1 step back, then other foot back. You want your walkout to use as much energy as possible. That 405 set you were all over the place. Mike T has one of hte most efficient walkouts I've seen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwLe_zFqut0&feature=channel_page
Try to get your walkout down like that. It'll help out more then you know.
3)Jam your elbows UNDER the bar from the start. This will help you stay more upright and keep your chest up more. On the 405 set your elbows are flipped way back, and your chest is pointing down to begin with. On the last 455 miss you can tell again, your elbows flip back, chest points down, and your in a real bad position to come up w/ the bar
4) Knees out before you start the descent. Some guys don't start forcing their knees out till they're already descending. You want your hips tight from the start
5) Stay tighter on the descent. you can tell you weren't tight on that first 455 miss because as soon as you tapped the pins, you rounded over. If you were tight, that wouldn't have happened.
Lots of little things, but it can pay big dividends.

wasnt a form weakness it was a tranny weakness.

thanks, i didn't even notice that other stuff aside from the walkout.
you're right about the tightness too, now that you mention it i feel like that's a lot of why i missed the first lift. i got to a point where i just couldn't push anymore because i had nothing to push with--wasn't tight enough and the weight wasn't going anywhere.
thanks again man, got a lot of **** to work on
edit: should I look about moving my hands out further on the bar to keep my elbows under it? I've been having a hard time with rounding over ever since I moved my hands back in it seems like
wasnt a form weakness it was a tranny weakness.
idk what a tranny is, but remind me later to tell you about the time i was blowing this girl.

regular mini's choked from the top of the rack. i tried doubling them but the rack is way too tall to set it up that way, i doubled them and put it on one end of the bar with a plate on and it lifted that side out of the j-hooks lol.

in addition to everything byron said, it just looks like you are being a little tentative.

idk how the hell you saw that, but that's definitely how i felt. it was my 2nd time wearing wraps so instead of getting pissed off like i normally would i tried to "play it safe"
i even had 1 headphone out during the single with 405, lol.
