are you looking to compete, or are you just lifting for lifting's sake?

no offense but you got a ton of help on that 290 bench...

no i didnt all i got was liftoff and his hands were not even touching the bar..

i told him to keep his hands close but not on it.

watch the video again..

i am not afraid to admit i was scared of the weight..always good to have a good strong spotter on hand just in case of the unexpected..

i am training for strength..no competion and lifting for lifting sake's is NOT possible with 290lbs it takes hardwork to even attempt 290lbs on the bench..

Well, for some it takes lots of work, others just seem to naturally progress to th 300+ mark no problem.. But that's neither here nor there....

The reason I was asking was so that we may help you progress your lifts. You could definitely tweak your form and push some more weight.

im with danny here, your technique could improve

whatever you heard from your high school coaches about not arching your back is wrong, arch your back (to whatever degree you feel most comfortable), tuck your shoulders/arm (you seem to do that fine), use leg drive while keeping your ass on the bench

i really dont mean to talk **** but it seems to be that he def helped you with your sticking point, and a little bit with balancing the bar

i would say you are good for 260 clean

you are right..the day i lifted this is the day i found my correct grip on the bar before i was going superwide now my pinky is just inside the ring i have way more power this way..

i really had clue about the correct grip..i was also told index finger past ring or middle finger on ring..

lol on a bad day i can do that 3x...seriously man i am not offended or anything just letting you know..and you are right about the arching i was told not to do it and i just started to dig my shoulders into the bench.if i have not already said it i am still learning and i still weary of big weight..lol

the grip thing is all subjective... i train with my pinky inside the ring(to save my shoulders), but when i compete the ring is in between my ring and middle finger..

if you have gotten stronger, you should put up a video of your current lift so we can help you more with form. it would be pointless to tell you to do something you're already doing..

you could definitely use more leg drive, and you could plant your shoulderblades better to help with stabilization. also, it looks like your lats and tris need some more work, so implementing some rows and more tricep work would be beneficial..

as far as those 'tricep pushdowns': they look more like a seated dip, in which case you'd be better off doing real weighted dips...

I've watched the video a few times, it REALLY does look like the spotter touches the bar the whole way and helps a lot. If you said he didnt touch ill take your word for it, but it just doenst look clean at all.

Whats the point of the machine pushdowns?
