Followers Welcome!!!

Who? Junkie2

What? Training the arts of BJJ

Where? www.bestwayjiujitsu.com

When? Three times a week, Mon/Wed/Fri, 8-9:30pm

Why? To better understand ground fighting. To learn respect and discipline. Because it is never to late to start.

How? I will update my log after every training session with details from what was done.

Day 1(4/20/09) -

Started with stretching and learned worked with a friend of mine on triangles and how to get out of closed guard and mount. Was also taught a submission using the bending back of the elbow of your opponent. Will try and find out the name of this since it is not fresh in my mind. A great first overall impression of the school. Decided to go ahead and sign up for 6 months.

Are you the one who signed up for MT and then found/came to believe it was a McDojo?

yeah, but then on monday i started training at a legit bjj gym. I'm stuck at the mcdojo for 5 more months, but i will make the best of it and incorporate both.

moving on...

Day 2(4/22/09)

Started off with stretching and core exercises such as planks and bicycles. We were taught how to go from closed guard to mount and then initiate an arm bar. We then learned how to counter the armbar. This took roughly 50 minutes, which was then followed by 30 minutes of rolling which i did not take place in as of yet.

Today i officially signed up and bought a gi. I must note on how not only professional, but laid back the head instructor is. Very cool guy. Told me that he gets over 50% off at combatsports.com and anytime any of us needed anything he would order it with no added charge to us. He then told me I could join the MMA classes for no extra fee for the first 6 months (which i will be taking advantage of, 2x a week tues/thurs 8-9:30).

nice journal I'm going to start Mt or Bjj pretty soon. So it's cool to see other people workouts and training.

why not do both? i'm currently involved in 2 schools, one with MT and this log is for BJJ. i usually go back to back so i dont have to take a shower more than once a day :-P

My schedule is as follows:

Monday- 6-7pm MT/conditioning, 8-9:45pm BJJ
Tuesday- 8-9:45pm kickboxing/boxing
Wednesday- 6-7pm boxing, 8-9:45 BJJ
Thursday- 8-9:45pm "MMA" (I use this term loosely since I am a beginner)
Friday- 6-7pm MT, 8-9:45pm BJJ

Would like to note I didn't jump into this schedule right off the bat. For the first few weeks I did MT/Boxing 4x a week to get some stamina/conditioning up. Really takes a toll on you by the end of the day. Also since I don't go to college (fractured my skull and they wouldn't let me return this semester), I am very free. I do work at GNC during the day, which is perfect for what I am doing. This will be my schedule until I return to college in the fall.

Note for Day 3(4/24/09)

Head instructor and most of the class are headed to boston for fights. Since I am a beginner and didn't know about it, i could not go. Class is cancelled.

Will update again on Monday

Monday(4/27/09)-

twisted my ankle pretty badly 3/4 of the way through my MT class so I called it quits, went home, and have been icing my foot.

No BJJ tonight
