how innovative is the career mode?
its like tuf...?
adoniscomplex
05-19-2009, 11:15 AM
its like tuf...?
its more like a a regular fighter entering
your first fight is super small
then you can train spar rest between fights
they give you 3 choices of the nextr fighter after you win or lose
theyll offer you random fill in fights to cover other injured fighters
and you work your way up the ranks
so far the highest ive got is fighting bj penn when he is ranked 5th
oh ya ufc events are going on the whole time and actual ufc fighters change rank and title holders
its tough , if you always pick the toughest dude to fight you dont get enough training in and cant keep up with the level of comp
i think my record is 15-5 right now
the fights when you are on a main ppv card (not the undercard) are tough as hell
2 fights ago nate diaz beat me via lay and pray
the only negative i have to say about career mode is that there is very little story line
beat fights you basically just try to figure out the best way to train for your upcoming fight via by getting better athletically or working on certain skills

All of my wins have been by KO due to a knee to head
so does anyone know if say, i create myself as a fighter, will i be able to play against friends who have created themselves too? not just online but from the same console?
I think you have to retire your created fighter from career (if you created him in career) before you can use him online and exhibition. I know there is just a create a fighter option, I don't know how that applies
how innovative is the career mode?
It's kind of bare bones, but still good. You choose between 1 option for each week. You can pick training, sparring and resting (besides actions like the actual fights and photoshoots.) Training is automatic, not a mini game. You choose either strength, speed or cardio and then choose between 3 intensity options. The lower intensity uses less energy, but gives you a minimal boost in the stat. The higher uses about 40% of your energy, but gives you a significant boost. You can spar, you earn points based on well how you preformed against a computer controlled fighter that's skill set mimics the guy you will face. The points go to the 16 stats like kicking offense, kicking defense, submission offense, and so on. You can do camp invites to earn higher levels on your basic skills (boxing, bjj, wrestling and so forth) where you must do speific things in the course of the 5 min thing to earn more experience. I'm a Kickboxer and I had to land combos and uses steps to defend myself. As you go you can earn better workout equip to better train your cardio, speed and strength. You get more sponsors as well.

Got the full game it is pretty good bit repetitive but so is any fightng game like Mortal Kombat, etc.
Graphics exceptionally good, apart from eyes of fighters they just change the way the whole face looks as they are poorly done.
Heard about the hidden cheat where you actually get fighters parping before they come out to fight, Chuck Lidell looks up pulls kinda funny face then bottom burps audibly, hilarious to see! I couldn't believe it until I saw it, when I was told I'm like wtf yeh sure there is, then I was shown it, the makers of the game just stuck it in as a laugh as they have done with other games or movies (egg with Yoda dancing on Star Wars DVD I was same as with UFC game, get out of there it's not on it, until I saw it!).

ShazzamX on 360. 5-2 online. 2 subs, 2 KOs, and 1 TKO.
I do the rotate stick for submission attempts/escape instead of button mashing. I think you gotta find out if you have a BJJ guy(rotate stick) or brock(button mash) as it goes by strength then BJJ skills(from what I've seen)
I haven't seen any glitches and the game is great.

it has happened to me with gsp vs bj penn 3 times and vs cro cop as sylvia 2 times
also the combo length is unrealistic in this game. You can keep punching the body or doing leg kicks at a certain rate without any repercussions from the other fighter.

THQ -
"Submissions pit two people against each other in a struggle that takes into account many factors. First, the offensive fighter’s submission skill and the type of submission being performed are considered. The higher a fighter’s Submission Offense and the more advantageous the position from which the submission is attempted, the higher the likelihood the submission will succeed. That’s why some people have noticed in our demo that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua’s triangle submission from mount is easier than other submissions, like the knee bar from guard or the kimura from half guard. Also, the method the offensive fighter uses to sink in the submission plays an important part. There are two ways to execute a submission – mashing the face buttons or rotating the right stick, a maneuver we call The Shine. In all cases, The Shine is going to be a better method to sink in a submission. Make sure you rotate that stick fast! The faster you rotate the stick, the higher your chance of success.
It’s the defensive side and how players deal with submissions that I think confuses a lot of people. Similarly to the offensive fighter, a defensive fighter has stats that influence how successful he is at getting out of submissions. But in the defensive fighter’s case, they have two different stats – Strength and Submission Defense – and which state is used depends on which type of escape is performed. Brute force escapes, which are performed by rapidly mashing the face buttons, only take into account Strength. The other type of submission escape, Technical Escapes, which are also executed via The Shine, only look at a defensive fighter’s Submission Defense. As a defender, your best bet is to know which of these two stats is higher and to utilize the escape suited to that higher stat.
There is another extremely important factor in the success rate of a submission, and that is the defender’s energy level. I have seen many people incorrectly assert that the best way to execute a submission is to weaken your opponent by beating him up. This is simply not true! Energy is not lowered by hurting your opponent; stamina is the answer. Energy is only depleted when your opponent performs actions; running, striking, transitions, etc. all temporarily lower energy levels, and the lower your opponent’s energy level, the more vulnerable he is to submissions. We didn’t want fighters coming out and submitting people instantly, simply because they have a higher Submission Offense. We feel this would be very frustrating for players (and yes, there are fighters in the game with higher Submission Offense than Shogun and lower Submission Defense than Chuck Liddell, so there will be matchups where submissions are a bit easier than others). For example, Brock Lesnar has extremely high Strength and Standing Striking Offense, but even he can’t just one-punch KO everyone in the game at will. It just wouldn’t be fun, and we just don’t think it’d be fun with submissions, either.
My suggestion would be for submission fighters to pay close attention to what actions their opponents are performing to see when a submission opportunity presents itself. If you land a takedown and your opponent immediately starts spamming transition attempts or has just delivered a flurry of strikes and left himself gassed, this means he’s using up a lot of energy and thus will be vulnerable to a submission. However, if the opponent is playing a calmer strategy and is perhaps only attempting to protect himself while throwing carefully timed strikes, submitting isn’t going to be a very viable option."

if someone has boxing as a style, does that mean they cant kick? or does it just mean their kicks suck.
cant wait for this game to come out in the uk
they kinda suck.
example kick boxers can do head kicks to start. muay thai people have to unlock those at lvl 2.

so my guy is kickboxing/bjj and i suck. i have to do CAF on beginniner. CC is killing me like I said and hes only ranked 9. im like 7-3? its obviously that i dont know how to build my character correctly yet because i play regular matches on advanced/experience/expert depending on what im doing.
p.s. BJJ in training camps is hard to do. too much based on computer doing **** to you..

what is your submission offense level at?
Well, one of the main reasons I can't submit is because my guy has good strength and usually rocks the person and I get a tko or I knock him out
Strength 77
Sub Offense 53
Takedown Defense 63
Standing Offense 60
level 2 MT
level 1 BJJ

how are you building you guy?
i only do 1 or 2 strength/cardio/speed sessions when preparring for fights. i spar one week and rest for another.
BJJ camps are hard at first but you can pull guard

you dont get rubber guard, but high level judo is wicked. I am lvl 3 judo and i am tossing bitches left and right without locking up. your counter become throws. and their submission skills are well rounded too.
i am leaving my MT level at 2 and just going to judo now. i am half way for 4 already

are you doing intense training? usually you get 7-13 weeks for a fight.
you can do tyour str/card/sped in 2 weeks, rest, rest. spar. rest. and you still got 5 weeks left unless its the 7 week thing.
i usually try to spar twice and im putting lots into his bjj offense, take down offense, kick offense, and ground offense. think those are mostly around 50 now. im only boxing lvl 2, bjj lvl 1 still. str at 45, cardio speed aroudn 30s or something.
ive only had 7-10 fights, i cant remember now. i lost ot eddie sanchez once, cro cop, and some BJJ guy that tooled me in 2 seconds.
edit: how many points are you getting from spars? original aprtner i was getting 10-20. lvl 2 partner im around 30-45. any tips? i just try to take them down and pound repeatly.

if it is a short camp (8 or under) i train for strength/cardio/speed only one time if that and then i only spar/rest
i get around 90 each time. You have to mix up your attacks and do alot of damage while taking very little. It is hard when your dude is starting out and below average. you can do much damage. I recommend trying to get mount in sparring and doing GnP and counter his movements. if you knock him out that is mass points. submitting is not for some lame reason.
there is also a fatigue bonus. so if you spar with low fatigue you get very little points. my judo is level 3 and MT level 2 strength is 60 speed is 52 cardio is 51
i have had 18 fights though
when your camp is long 10 or more. I would say train intense for strength once and then train for speed intense once. and switch off speed/cardio every long camp you get. strength is very important for submission defense, then for the rest of the 8 weeks spar one week and rest the next untill the fight starts. if you have one week extra to spar between the fight don't, just rest
as long as you stay busy and defend well you will get 40-60 when you spar, which is pretty good. 90-100 is awesome, but you have to counter everything almost.
I would suggest taking the tutorial a couple times and then practice on it for grappling.

yeah im doing fine for the str/card/speed then. seems im severely lacking in the sparring part. i just figured out the fatigue bonus like when i was quitting last night.
im gonna create a new guy and go boxing/wrestling i think. fits much more how i want to play. taking bjj is kinda hard for your first guy plus you wanna submit so much yet your skill is so low.

true, but you have to be good enough at the game to USE your clinch.
Muay thai judo is probably the best for advanced players.. where as kickboxing/bjj is the easiest to start with IMO

i would not say i am advanced. I am pretty good and i can beat the comp on expert 7 out of 10 times
i started on Judo and Thai for my CAF and never looked back. great move base, camps are easy, strong throws, above avg submissions, nice reversals and great takedowns. it is not a very steep learning curve imo

Yeah judo is the ****t!
I versed someone online and they had judo and he was reversing everything and getting great positions, Still think wrestling is very useful and the slams do a lot of damage to both stamina and health.
Also quite a few ppl have been disconnecting on me, especially the higher level fighters! anyone else ?
my record is currently 71 wins and 8 losses lvl 58 fighter, feel sorry for the new fighters I vs online, I try give em a chance but at the end cant risk losing with a flash KO, so I just mount em and ground and pound!! lol
