I am a little over 4 weeks out from my contest and I am just curious about using skim milk in my coffee?
Is this ok, or should I switch to non-dairy creamer?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Lauri,
a little skim milk isn't going to set you back, unless you are drinking several pots of coffee a day. But I wouldn't worry about a little skim milk.
What competition are you doing?

Are you serious? YOu don't like oatmeal?
It is blanc - but I put a packet of sweet and low in there and I swear - it is my favorite meal!
Before I was preparing for a show- for breakfast I would have oatmeal, two scoops of chocolate protein powder and a small box of raisins -
Mix it all together and yummmmm!!!
So funny, but that is one of the things I am looking forward to eating after my contest!

Aussie, I have a trick for you...Try this.
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 cup boiled water
1 tblsp nat peanut butter
1 tblsp flax seed oil
1 tsp baking cocoa
3-4 packets of equal or splenda
1. Put peanut butter in bowl
2. add flax oil
3. add cocoa
4. mash it up into a nasty looking paste
5. put dry oats on top
6. add sweetner
7. add boiling water and mix
This really worked for me in the am and nutrient values are good for what we need.

cut out all lactose 1 week out.. as it can make one retain water. Having a little bit while cutting should be ok as long as one does not have more than a cup or 2 per day.

Oh by the way added some splenda to my oats today very very tasty i got the whole bowl down and wanted to go back for seconds.
Now will the splenda hold water in my body or have ne other effect as it gets closer to the show ???
While your here i want to ask the same question about BBQ sauce and fat free MAYO.
Also will diet coke have any effect on my weight loss and maintaining muscle mass with the dehydration ?
Hope you can help me out with this one !!!

The splenda should not make you retain water, the BBQ sauce on the other hand can cause you to retain water. Check the sodium level of your sauces, BBQ sauce usally contains moderate levels of sodium. You shouldn't have to cut this until 5-7 days from the show, that is when sodium levels really have too be watched. If you are paranoid like, I would be, cut your sodium level in half 2 weeks out. Diet Coke watch your consumtion of it, caffine and sodium work great together in the bloat factors. I personally drink caffine free.

splenda is fine. You needn't worry about water retention til about 5 days out.

Splenda is sucralose, an altered form of sucrose, splenda claimes that sucralose can NOT be converted into any usable sugar forms to be broken down into carbohydrates (even while baking). BBQ on the other hand has high sodium content stay away from this IMO for the last month...Same with mayo of any form. Mayonaise is bassically eggs and oil with salt and sweetner...If you are preparring for a show stay away. You can do it besides you will learn to love strained turkey breast, brocolli, and baby food!@!!!!!! LMFAO!!! We all know it's worth it though. Right?

What is with the babyfood?
I always hear people talk about it .... but why do competitors use it?
No sodium?

It's a great for a couple of reasons IMO...
Great carb loader for last week or so
Low to no sodium
it is easily digestable
it is easy on the stomach
full of vitamins
its cheap
its convenient
its easy to eat

Milk contains calories and sugars...how about this...do you think the person you are going to be standing next to is having that skim milk that you are drinking??? that should be enough to answer if you should drink it or not
