the one i have i got through new york barbells and it weighs 65lbs so it may be the TDS one and if so it is fine for me with no complaints.

I think thats the one he's talking about Al. NYBB definitely sells the TDS racks.

I had that same SS Bar until a month ago, sold it to Animalfan. Personally, I didn't like it. Not that particular brand, I thought it was a fine bar. I just didn't like using a safety squat bar. It put the weight way forward and I didn't like the feeling. I know that's the point, but I preferred the normal bb squats and figured that was the method used by plenty over the years, so I sold it.

Animal really wanted one and he got a good deal, so win-win!

i really like the bar, but it will definately not replace regular barbell squats. it's really a different exercise! the safety squat bar is also great for good mornings.

I have the same bar and like it alot. Its a good thing I have it because I cant hold a barbell yet because of my shoulder.

I have a Safety Squat Bar (it's an older one-I think it is an original one from when they first came out)-when I first started using is I couldn't put anywhere near enough weight compared to barbell squats and I felt it work my legs pretty good.

I used it very consistently for a few months...increased the weight gradually...but then I noticed that my knees would start to bother me. I went back to mainly using barbell squats and my knees felt a lot better.

The positive is that my weight in barbell squats increased a bit-something that I think can be attributed to using the Safety Squat Bar. I just did not like how it made my knees sore.

My plan of action now is to continue using mainly barbell squats...every fourth or fifth workout I'll use the Safety Squat Bar but with lighter weight/higher reps just to give legs a different training approach. I'll try that approach and see how it works. I hope that helps.

For those that don't like to squat with a SS bar try using it for box squats.

for me it's because of the bar position. it keeps the weight higher on my shoulders than i hold it with a regular bar. makes me feel it more in my quads instead of hams/glutes. also there isn't any pressure on my wrists/shoulders from holding the bar.
