I'm usually terrible at keeping logs, but I am going to do my best to update this log daily with what I have done..

Got word Friday that I will be fighting my first fight June 19th

Been wrestling for 13 years and was a collegiate champion and doing BJJ for 3 years and currently a purple belt, been training stand-up sparingly the last few years, never trained it too seriously though, going to really get to work on that in the next few months...

having wrestled for 12 ish years the sport translated naturally into BJJ and I was going to tournaments and beating high ranking belts (no GI) in pro divisions and I guess people were kinda complaining that it was making their schools look bad or something that a blue belt was beating their brown/blacks..

Realistically with a GI im a decent purple belt, but No-Gi I roll at a much higher level because of my wrestling... I'm very good at what I use, but my total overall knowledge of alot of stuff isn't up to par with some other purple belts..

I dont know how to explain it really, but I think this is a fairly common thing, BJJ after all is a martial art like wrestling so some could argue I was training portions of BJJ for years...

Love the log man. What event are you fighting at? Promotion name? And any idea on who your opponent is?

Good Luck with training brah!

most likely bc hes a wrestler. he already knows some takedowns and the control part of it. just not too many submissions. its a great base to start bjj with. i kinda wish i did wrestling in high school. 3 years doesnt seem too little time training. provided you go atleast 4 days a week.

btw good luck. if your fight is in new england alert us. im in ct and mass isnt a far drive especially for a fight

I have always been a fan of wrestling and was wonder what high school and college you went to? I hope you do well in your fight. I think wrestlers end up making the best MMA fighters.
