they said use ice for first 4 days then heat for the rest. i have some pills too but its only for the pain. im not allowed to wear a cast because of flexibility and stiffness. ive tried lifting a few times already. not a good idea.

Recovery time varies on a bunch of things. Best thing is to rest the area and stretch. You will know when its time to hit the weights again.

I hope you meant that they said to use ice the first 3 days, then heat thereafter.

You know, I don't have tendonitis but I play video games allot and I workout in my house. Sometimes my wrists get really tired and irritate me when Iam playing so I take some barbell clamps from my weight set and squeeze them in each of my hands to excercise the opening and closing muscles, seem to help me allot. But you should consult your doctor before trying that, could make it worse!

well he said any pressure at all and any stress on the wrist will tear it more

I've had tendinitis for sadly 5 or 6 months now. My right wrist first started hurting in November of 08 because of my lifting posture, I think. I'd have my hand in a hook position and all the weight of the dumbbell would be on my wrist. I couldn't really lift then and when I started to feel the wrist starting to heal, wrestling season started (I'm in high school). Wrestling didn't really hurt my wrist a lot except for when we did pushups. I weigh 180ish and my chest is weak as hell (can barely max out at 100 :(), so it was difficult for me. Anyway, I want to start lifting again but I don't want my tendinitis to become permanent. I was looking online a few min ago and I found this site:

http://www.newgrip.com/tendon.html

Has anyone here ever tried this company/guard before? I don't want to blow my money on something if it doesn't work. $30 isn't really a lot, but I'm in HS remember. Anyway, have any of you ever actually cured your wrist tendinitis?

i have literally had tendiotis in my whole body for years, it is something that never really goes away, have to wait it out and strengthen the muscles..

i credit mine to lift to heavy to much....... it sux so bad so hard getting ready for a fight and the shoulder acts up.....

ice and ibprofrin(advil, motrin) anti-inflamatory's not tylenol

sorry spelling is a wreck but im drunk!!!!

good luck

some things to help prevent it are when doing chest(bench etc) when your in the negative to not let your arms go past 90 degrees same with your wrist they should always be straight like your throwing a punch dont bend them like your doing a push up

Hey, I used to have wrist tendonitis on my right wrist late last year from DB pressing and it took me out of heavy lifting for about a good three months. Let the injury heal, don't take things too quickly and always listen to the advice of your doc, you'll be glad that you did. Remeber to RICE(Resting, Icing, Compressing, and Elevate) too. Also take some ibuprofen if the pain bothers you too much, either way chill out with heavy lifting for now.

Best thing anyones said so far. Better to stop in your tracks than to continue forward and end up taking a a few steps back. You will recover, don't let it get you down.

I have a pair of those and they work great. I have tendonitis in my left wrist and since I've been using the new grips I've had no pain when lifting, afterwards it would be a little sore but during lifting there is no pain at all. They are a little weird at 1st but once you get used to them they are fine. The wristwraps that come with them are really good sometimes I just wear the wraps and not the pads. I would definatley recommend them to anyone that has tendonitis they really do make a difference.
